CAUSES OF INDUSTRIALIZATION
introduction
There were many reasons for the United States
to become an industrial nation, one of them
was its natural resources that with
oil,petrulium, silver, cold, gold, and water
helped the United States’ industrial success.
They also had free enterprise, new inventions,
transportation, workforce, all of this together
played an important role in the process of
becoming an industrial nation.
Free Enterprise
 At the heart of this was entrepreneurs, they
were people who risk their capital in
organizing and running a business.
 Laissez-faire, supporters of laissez-faire
believed the government should not interfere
in the economy.
 Supporters argue that if the GOV. regulates
the economy, it increases costs and hurts
society more than it helps.
 Business operate without the government
Natural Resources
 Petroleum, iron, Cole, Gold, Silver, Water.
 This helped the nations’ industrial success.
 Increase trade and pollution.
 Did not have to import Resources from other
countries.
Transportation
 The transcontinental Railroad was the first of
many lines that began to crisscross the nation
after the civil war.
 Railroads helped increase the size of markets
for many products.
 Increase industry
workforce
 This human resources were as important as
natural resources in enabling the nation to
industrialize rapidly.
 This increase population between 1860 and 1910
 It also Increase in crime
 Between 1870 and 1910, 2o million immigrants
arrived to U.S, they added to industrial
workforce, and helped the factories to increase
their production.
New Inventions
 Technology ,
 Communication
 Light bold
 Steel
 This helped the nations’ productive capacity.
 Improved transportation and communication
 Decrease prices over production
