

Jade is also known as a gem stone

Jade’s known as a symbol of love and also
virtue

Jade comes in many
different kinds of colors
Jade can come in various
colors such as white, light
green, lilac, red, violet,
yellow, gray and brown
The mineral can also be
colorless, which is the
more valuable type of
jade
Polished vs. Unpolished

This is a polished form of
jade, with one tumble

This form is unpolished,
but cut
Mineral Hardness




Calcium and magnesium are what make
the mineral Jade hard and solid.
The hardness of Jade is between 6.5 and
7.0
Jade can scratch glass
Jade generally has fracture, unless it’s cut
by a machine, which gives cleavage

Jadeite
Nephrite
-luster=glassy
-fracture=difficult, splintery

Both can be distinguished
from their softness


Depending on the color of the jade, would
depend on how much it could be worth

For instance, the picture of the right would be
one of the expensive pieces of jade, because
it’s clear, colorless, and carved
Is it dangerous?





The people mining the jade out of the ground
experience dangerous situations that can be lifethreatening, but the jade isn’t dangerous
There’s always a chance that the mines could
collapse while doing this work
People work long, hard hours throughout the day
mining the Mineral jade, under somewhat, harsh
conditions
Jade miners receive low pay for working in jade
mines, as low as $1.00 a week in some places
I would say that the mineral jade is not really
dangerous as the mineral itself, but getting the
mineral could be dangerous overall


Australia, Burma (Myanmar), Canada, china,
USA, and Vietnam, Japan, Alaska, and Korea
(south).
Jade can be good for you…


When jade is heated, it emits long waves of infrared that
penetrates the body.
It can effect the body by reviving tissues, emitting harmful
toxins/waste, promoting blood circulation, and purifying
blood.
