The Greek Gods
Greeks believed in their gods not events like thunder, earthquakes, and volcanic
eruptions. The Greeks didn’t believe in the Non-Greek beliefs of how the world was
built. Since the Non-Greeks didn’t believe in the Greeks they called the Greeks Stories
myths. The amazing inhuman gods that the Greek believed in were Zeus, Apollo,
Poseidon, Hades, Hera, and much more.
The gods got mad one day at the Greeks and the Greeks had an idea. They built
great temples, to there idol or their Greek Gods, around Greece. In return, the gods
gave what they want. Well that was the Greeks thought. The Non-Greeks now are trying
to understand these myths and some of them did mythology. Mythology is the study of
myths. On the next paragraphs I will be talking about the other gods like Zeus,
Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, and much more.
Zeus is the youngest god out of the brothers Hades and Poseidon. In fact, he is
the sixth god out of the gods. Zeus was kind of a player back then. He had 8 wives; and
everyone knows Zeus’s weakness, he always get in trouble in love! That’s way he got 8
wives. His first wife’s name is Hera. He carries a lighting bolt. Well anyway he defeated
his brothers and took the right to be the God of the gods. Zeus is the youngest one but
still the strongest God in the Greek world in the Greeks’ thinking or mind.
Next we got the powerful Poseidon. He was strong and powerful enough to fight
his little brother. He lost the battle but the thing is that Poseidon can not go to heaven as
a God. Poseidon weakness is warlike and being moody. His strength is being a creative

God, designing the sea. He still has the right to be a king of something. He is the king of
the sea and the world.
Hades is the oldest brother out of the brothers. He is the prince of the world (in
the Bible) and the king of the Underworld. He became nothing to the Greeks but then
became a great fear to Greeks. He had married a woman that is the daughter of Zeus
and Demeter. The worst part is that she is 16! Even worst Hades’ daughter is Demeter!
Now that is just gross. Hades’ weakness is marrying Persephone. His strength is being rich
with the wealth of the earth, especially precious metals. Anyway Hades was mad at his
defeat of his brother, Zeus. He put his rage on a monster (the monster wasn’t a
Minotaur) of the Underworld, the Cyclops. After killing the creature he became ruler of
the dead and the Underworld. The Great Mother goddess Rhea gave birth to Hades. Apollo
is the God of the sun; he is also the God of music. Like all gods their have strengths.
Being creative and being handsome. Of course Apollo has a weakness. He can’t
himself be to be so happy enjoy the charms of nymphs. He is the son of Zeus; he also
carries this thing or a musical instrument called a lyre. He borrowed the musical
instrument fro a pre-Greek God, Helios. Apollo’s appearance is like a young man with
curly golden hair.
Now we have the powerful god Ares; he is the god of war. As usual Zeus has a
lot of children and Ares is one of them. His strength is being strong-minded and
fearless. Of course even a strong God have a weakness raging a fighting and
bloodthirsty are the ones. If you get to see him he would look like a young man with a
beard and that’s all. He carries a spear and has a dog.

Greeks had always believed in Greek gods. For instance Zeus is the king of the
gods. They had and will always worship Zeus. Zeus was the youngest God out of the
brothers in the Greek world. Poseidon is the God of the sea and Hades is the God of
the Underworld. There are many other gods like Ares and Apollo but the brothers were
the main gods.
