DESCRIPTIVE TITLE: Adolescent Outreach Program Coordinator BUDGET TITLE: Counselor FULL-TIME: 100%

PROJECT & LOCATION: Brockport Migrant Education Program SALARY: $29,000 - $31,000 *

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES INCLUDING LEVEL OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED:

 Develop a three-year goal/plan for migrant adolescents and their families that will enable them to become independent students who can seek resources necessary to pursue their dreams

 Plan and implement educational field trips for adolescents in cooperation with Tutor-Advocates

 Assess the needs of every migrant adolescent and plan an appropriate academic and social program

 Encourage and support self-empowerment and positive identity development in migrant students and their families

 Work in conjunction with the Director and Tutor-Advocates to advocate for students in school districts

 Maintain regular contact with student families through frequent home and camp visits

 Provide advocacy by linking with service providers

 Assist in the transportation and staffing of the parent meetings and other adolescent activities

 Develop job shadowing and work experience opportunities for young people

 Participate in and contribute to Statewide Migrant Education meetings and area coalitions

 Attend in-service meetings and other staff development trainings

 Maintain all necessary records

 Perform other duties as directed by the Director

Required Qualifications

:

 Bilingual (English-Spanish)

 Driver’s license and reliable vehicle

 Degree in school counseling, career counseling, student services, or education

 Ability to work with a culturally diverse population

Preferred Qualifications :

 Teaching Experience

 Career counseling experience or supporting students with career exploration

 Experience working with migrant students

SPECIAL NOTES :

 Work sites in Monroe, Orleans & Niagara Counties.

 Includes some evening and weekend hours

 This position is subject to The Research Foundation for SUNY policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines, and the availability of funding. All finalists for this position will be subject to suitable pre-employment background investigation and may include confirmation of credentialing. Offers may not be extended until we receive a positive outcome from the pre-employment background investigation. This position is subject to annual renewal based on performance and the availability of funds.
