Integers: another name for a
number
• Algorithm-steps or rules to
complete a computation
• Rational Numbers: numbers
that can be expressed as one
integer divided by another
integer
• Negative Numbers-numbers to the left of
zero
• Positive Numbers: Numbers to the right of
zero.
• Absolute value: The distance a number is
from zero.
• Order of Operation: PEMDAS
• GEMS
• Commutative Property:
addition\multiplication
• The position of the two numbers doesn’t
change the answer.
• Distributive Property: Breaks down bigger
numbers to make them easier to work
with.
• 89 * 5
• 80 * 5 = 400
• 9 * 5 = 45
• 445
• Associative Property: Allows addends or
factors to be grouped and computed in a
different way without changing the
answer.
• (2 + 4) + 5 = 4 + (2 + 5)
