Course Description:

In this course you are finally going to learn how to integrate and apply integration in science and engineering. You will also study infinite series, a particularly important tool of modern computation. Calculus II is one of the most important courses in your education. This course shall cover parts of Chapter 7. (Applications of Integration), 8.

(Integration Techniques, L’Hôpital’s Rule, and Improper Integrals), 9. (Infinite Series),

10. (Parametric Equations and Polar Coordinates).

Homework (hw) and Quizzes:

Online hw will be assigned each class period through WebAssign. You will have two days for each assignment (exact terms will be given later). There will be a quiz each

Friday. No late hw and no make-ups for quizzes.

Quizzes will be graded by the TA.

Midterms:

There will be three one-hour pencil and paper midterms (announced at least one week in advance). An hour review will be given one class prior to each midterm discussing the exam in great detail. No make-ups except for documented circumstances.

I will grade the tests. Curving will be used only if particular exams turn out to be unexpectedly difficult.

Final Exam:

A two hour closed book comprehensive exam is

May 8

, 10:15 -12:15. Please do not plan on leaving prior to the final exam as it is against the departmental policy to give earlier final exams (see www.uaf.edu/dms/policies/ )

Attendance is mandatory but will not be taken. If you are late or miss class you should get notes/important info from a fellow student.

Support Service: Math Lab in Chap 305 is available for free with tutors on duty.
