Early College Access Online
at QOHS

Benefits:
– Extends the existing high school curricula
– Allows seniors to earn college credits during
their school day.
– You have access to courses you may not
otherwise be able to take.
– Seniors can experience college life as it is
experienced by other MC students.

Admission & Registration
Requirements
Students must meet the MC early placement
requirements for admission:
– A completed admission application
– a cumulative grade-point average of at least
3.0 (Juniors) or 2.75 (Seniors) in high school
academic subjects.
– A 550+ on each part of the SAT or take the
Accuplacer Test , administered at QOHS
– Written permission from your school counselor

Fees
The application fee of $25 has been waived for
all students in the partnership program.
 Tuition and fees are:

– $398.40 for one 3-credit course (3 credits)
– $796.80 for two 3-credit courses (6 credits)
– $929.60 for an additional 1-credit course (7 credits)

Textbooks and class materials must be bought
by the student and will vary with each class.
Placement Testing

The Accuplacer test must be taken by all
students who do not meet the minimum
550 on all parts of the SAT. It will be
offered on site at QOHS, free to all
students.

How does an Online class run?
You meet in a computer lab here at QOHS
at a designated period during your school
day.
 You will be in class with other MC & QO
students
 You will follow the syllabus and the
designated online lessons,
 Classes are enhanced with audio, video,
links to internet sites and posted
discussion questions that will be answered
by you and those in your class ONLINE.


May I enroll at MC if I am a junior in high school?

How many credits can I register for?
–

Yes. All attempted and completed coursework at MC is documented on each student's
official transcript.
Yes and No. Acceptance of transfer credit is at the discretion of individual colleges or
universities. General education courses typically transfer to Maryland colleges and
universities. However, MC does not guarantee this transfer. Students are encouraged to
contact the institutions they wish to transfer credit for advising.
Can the credit I earn be used to fulfill high school graduation requirements?

No, unless you successfully appeal and are accepted into the program
Will the credit I earn transfer to another college or university?
–

No. You can register only for courses on the Early College Access List.
Will I receive a college transcript documenting the credit I earn at MC?

High school students may not exceed seven credits each term..

Yes. As long as you meet the early placement requirements for Juniors
Yes. It is dual enrollment. Credits can count toward both MCPS elective credits and MC
credit.
How do I choose what class to take?

It is up to you. As long as your overall high school coursework meets graduation
requirements, you can take what you like. Look over the course selection and find the
classes you would be interested in taking then, talk to your guidance counselor if you have
questions about credits or graduation.
