Eligibility & Course Areas:
Minimum qualification to go for a course in law (LLB) is 10+2. Course duration is of 5
years and is sponsored by the Bar Council Of India.
In addition to LL.B. degree, many universities and institutes also offer other diploma
courses in several disciplines of law, including Administrative Law, International Law,
Labour Laws, Tax Laws and Corporate Laws.
In most of the institutes/universities, selection is on the basis of an entrance test. The
entrance examination is objective type in nature. The questions invariably cover areas
like Reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude and Legal Aptitude.
Remuneration
Salaries of experienced attorneys vary widely according to the type, size, and location
of their employer. Initially an articled clerk or apprentice earns a stipend of Rs 2,200/this will increase substantially over years of experience. In the government judicial
service salaries ranges from Rs. 2,000-4,000. A sub judge earns Rs 5,500 along with
the usual allowances and perquisites applicable to government employees. Most
salaried lawyers are provided health and life insurance, and contributions are made on
their behalf to retirement plans. The private legal practitioner earns comparatively
handsome amounts.

National Law School of India University (NLSIU) BangalorePROFILE
UNIVERSITY
The National Law School of India University, Bangalore was established under the
National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). NLSIU started its journey
in 1987 under the stewardship of its Founder Director, Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon. The
first batch of students joined on July 1, 1988 in the integrated five year B.A., LL.B.
(Hons.) Course. NLSIU started its courses in the premises of the Central College,
Bangalore University and then NLSIU moved to its own premises at the present address
in 1992. The University offers a five-year Integrated B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.) It is the best Law
school in India today and has been topping the India Today Ranking of law colleges in
India for the last couple of years. It is the topmost Law College in Karnataka, India.
Infact, this Bangalore Law School has been producing Rhodes and Inlaks Scholars on a
regular basis. A number of students have gone abroad for further studies and currently
NLS Bangalore has a tie up with Warwick University (U.K). Indian Today (ORG-MARG
Survey Poll) has been ranking NLS Bangalore as the Top Law College in India for the

The college conducts an All India Admission Test on the first Sunday of May each
year. For Application and Prospectus, write to the Registrar giving full address with
pincode and the course for which the application is required with a Bank Draft for
Rs.600/- payable to NLSIU at Bangalore (please note that the amount payable is
subject to change at the discretion of the management and therefore you are advised
to check with the college prior to dispatching the DD). The envelope must be
superscribed by writing in BOLD LETTERS, the appropriate course for which the
application is required. Prospectus and Application forms are usually issued from
December - January. The last date for receipt of completed Applications is usually 15th
March of the year in which the student is appearing for the entrance exam. The
Entrance test centres are Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Hyderabad,
Kolkatta, Allahabad and Chandigarh (the centres can be changed each year at the

Undergraduate Degree Programme : 5-year integrated B.A., LLB (Hons.) Degree
Programme
Eligibility : The student should have completed 10+2 secondary school examination or
its equivalent with not less than 50% marks. All Students taking qualifying examination
in March/April of the year of the ENTRANCE TEST are also eligible to apply.
The student should be below 20 years of age as on July 01 of the year in which he is
seeking admission(22 years in case of SC/ST candidates).
Intake and Reservation: The intake is 80 with reservation of 15% for SC and
7 ½% for ST candidates. Financial assistance /fee waiver / Scholarship is available in
deserving cases. Admissions are based purely on merit.
NRI Students : The Admission of Foreign nationals however, shall be made based
on satisfying the prescribed Academic Qualification and on a review of the academic
and co-curricular accomplishments as assessed by the Admission Committee,
preference being given to candidates from developing countries. They are exempted
from taking the admission test and the rule concerning the age limit. The candidate
must have studied English language as one of the compulsory subjects in 10+2 or
equivalent Higher Secondary School Examination. The Admission Committee may

NALSAR UNIVERSITY of Law, established under the Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998, is
a body corporate . It is a fully residential university engaged in teaching and promoting
research in law and allied disciplines. The University campus is located on a sprawling
55-acre site about 28 kilometers from Hyderabad Airport. Its city centre is located in
Barkatpura, Hyderabad.
The college conducts an All India Entrance Test in May each year. For Application
and Prospectus, write to the Deputy Registrar / Registrar giving full address with
pincode and the course for which the application is required. All correspondence
relating to Admission should be made to the Deputy Registrar at the City Office
address only. Prospectus along with prescribed application form is usually made

Entrance Test Syllabus :

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) - UNIVERSITY PROFILE
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is the statutory university established by the
Govt. of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. GNLU
commenced its academic activities for the five year integrated LLB programmes from
July 2004. Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is a new national law university
established following the impetus given by the Bench, Bar, and Parliamentary
committees since late 1980’s and inspired by the success of other National Law Schools.
The current Chairman of GNLU is Mr. Kirit N.Raval and its first Director is Professor
Dr.V.S.Mani (former Professor of International Space Law, Jawaharlal Nehru University,
New Delhi.)
Admissions will be on the basis of an All-India Entrance Test and a pre-admission
Interview. Entrance Test will be held on a given Sunday in May. The Entrance test
centres are Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Rajkot, Surat and
Vadodara. (If any of these centres does not attract sufficient number of candidates, it
may be cancelled, asking the applicants to move to another centre).
Entrance Test Syllabus : The test aims to assess the aptitude of the candidate to
pursue law as a career, general knowledge and competence in giving
descriptive/analytical answers. Maximum weightage of 80% will be given to the
Entrance Test and 20% for the interview. Admissions will be completed by 30
June soon after the interview and classes will commence in July each year.

Government Law College
Three Year Course
Eligibility
A student passing the Bachelor's Degree Examination of the Mumbai University in any
faculty with minimum 45 % marks at the first attempt or a corresponding degree
examination of any other university recognised as equivalent thereto and recognised by
the Mumbai University with minimum 60 % marks at the first attempt will be eligible for
admission to the First Year LLB Admission will be given strictly on Merit.


A student who has successfully completed three years study and passed three
examinations is entitled to the LL. B. degree and would be eligible to practice as
an advocate after completing one year of training, as per the Rules of the Bar
Council of India.
A student who desires to learn law but does not wish to practice an advocate is
entitled to a degree called LL. B. (General) at the end of two years.
Five Year Course
The five-year course of Law after 10+2 or 11+1 shall comprise of two parts viz. Part I
which will be a two year program of pre-law study and Part II which will be a three year
program for professional training in Law.
Eligibility
A candidate passing H.S.C. (10+2) conducted by H.S.C. Board of Maharashtra with
minimum 45% marks at the first attempt or any other examination recognised as
equivalent there to by the University of Bombay with minimum 60% marks at the first
attempt will be eligible for admission to the first year of this course.
Admission will be given strictly on merit. Candidates should declare at the time of
seeking admission at this College as to whether he/she has applied or intends to apply
for admission to other professional faculty failing which he/she will not be entitled for
refund of fees which are available as per the rules of the University of Bombay.
No students shall be allowed to keep terms for two different degree courses,
simultaneously in the same academic year.
LL. M.
Students are admitted to the LL.M. course subject to the following conditions:-Only five
students per group will be admitted on merit basis. If any of the students do not take
the admission by the prescribed date, the students who have been kept on the waiting
list according to the order are admitted.
