You are welcome to tailor NDEP resources to fit your needs. Keep the following
guidelines in mind when considering changes.
You can:

 Add relevant examples
 Change pictures
 Alter format (eg turn a paper document into HTML for a website)
 Adapt program delivery & timeline
 Follow the principles established-NDEP Guidelines for Partner Collaborations
o http://www.ndep.nih.gov/resources/ResourceDetail.aspx?ResId=279
Develop complementary and supplementary materials to support NDEP Resources:

 Literacy
 Language
You cannot change the following elements and keep the NDEP logo:
 The health topic
 Text
 Attaching/inserting new text
o Exception: Adding culturally relevant examples that do not change the
meaning of the text
 Implying NDEP endorsement of commercial products
o Partners that reproduce and distribute NDEP materials with other marketing
materials must include a cover letter that states that the NDEP, as a federal
program, does not endorse any organization’s products or services.
If you adapt an NDEP resource and remove the logo, include the following statement:
 “Adapted from the National Diabetes Education Program, a joint program of
the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention.”
Process for approving your adaptations for use with the NDEP logo:
 Contact NDEP
 Work with NDEP to complete a project brief
 Evaluate your adaptations
 Submit to NDEP for review and approval
We welcome your ideas. If you have any questions about the use of NDEP resources,
