OBJECTIVE Two: Photosynthesis and Respiration
The student will compare and contrast the biochemical processes involved in the transfer
of energy during photosynthesis and respiration and analyze the major chemical cycles in
the biosphere.

The student will
1. Compare and contrast the light dependent and light independent reactions of
photosynthesis. (Light and dark reactions)
• Site the reactants and products of photosynthesis and respiration
• Describe the chloroplast structure
• State what occurs in Stage One (photosystems), Stage Two, (electron transport chain)
and Stage Three(Calvin cycle )
• Give factors that affect photosynthesis
•Examine leaf structure, pigments, and light energy
2.Investigate the relationship between the processes of photosynthesis and respiration.
• Define the food chain ( autotrophs, heterotrophs, producers, consumers,
decomposers)

3. Explore the efficiency of aerobic and anaerobic respiration.
