The Sunderland Partnership is passionate about the city and its people. It is committed to

Sunderland Partnership member organisations work together to improve the quality of
life for people in Sunderland.

Partnership Boards

Sunderland Compact
The Compact is the agreement between the government and the third sector which
outlines a way of working that improves their relationship for mutual advantage.

Fairtrade city
Sunderland was the 300th place alongside London to be awarded Fairtrade status in 2007
by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Sunderland Strategy
This is the Sunderland Strategy - the city's sustainable community strategy setting out
what the people who live, work and study in the city today would like to see by 2025.

Strengthening families
The Strengthening Families delivery model provides support to families with needs to
make positive changes and build the resilience required to fulfil their potential and reduce
the demand on services in the future.

Independent advisory groups
Independent advisory groups help people to get involved and make it easier for
organisations, including the council, to consult directly with service users.

Have your say
Sunderland City Council works with partners to provide a range of opportunities for local
people to get involved, this might include volunteering, getting your voice heard by
voting or taking part in consultations.


Sunderland Armed Forces Network (SAFN)
The SAFN is instrumental is ensuring care and assistance is available for the Armed
Forces Community. It works with Sunderland City Council and its partners to deliver the
Sunderland Armed Forces Covenant which was signed is 2012.

Voluntary and Community Action Sunderland (VCAS)
Bringing together the local voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations to work
together to develop and share good local practice.
