Catalog Description:
An investigation of the styles and techniques of movie making as an art form.
In order to gain insights into cinematic form and art, several individual
filmmakers and examples of their work are studied in detail.

Prerequisites: Eligibility for enrollment in
ENGL 101 and completion of
any reading courses required
by the College Testing and Placement Center.

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

demonstrate an awareness of the cinema as a potential art form;
demonstrate knowledge of the elements of filmmaking, including
scripting, cinematography, lighting, composition, mise en scene, editing,
acting, directing;
recognize how those elements are incorporated into the making of films;
discuss films in light of the element being investigated.
