Dear Parent or Guardian,
On Friday, May 8, 2015 the Mystic Bands will travel to Massachusetts to participate in the Great
East Music Festival. We will perform for and be adjudicated by highly qualified musicians and
spend part of the day at Six Flags New England Amusement Park.
Objectives
Academic and Musical
The students will be adjudicated by professionals.
Motivation
This will provide us with a major goal toward which to strive.
This will promote pride in the groups, esprit d'corps and a positive self-image.
Social Interaction
The students will learn to respect and get along with
each other in a new environment.
Enjoyment and Fun
To have an enjoyable and safe time through this exciting trip to
Great East Music Festivals/Six Flags New England in Massachusetts.

I am looking for parents to help chaperone our trip to Massachusetts. If you are interested,
please check the I am interested box on the Student Commitment Form D. I will forward more

Expenses
The price of the trip will be $90.00.
This includes: bus expense, festival charge and park admission/portion of chaperone park admission
($5.00 more this year for increase in park admission for students and chaperones and motorcoach transportation)
Student Commitment Form D must accompany the $45.00 Non-Refundable Deposit due
by Friday, February 6, 2015 (Payment in FULL is also accepted!)
Balance of $45.00 is due on Friday, March 6, 2015.
Please pay by check* in an envelope with student's name clearly marked. If there is a question
about your balance, your canceled check is your receipt.
* Make checks payable to: Mystic Middle School
Under no circumstances should finances affect a student's participation in our trip. If this is
the case, please check the ‘Yes, I am in need of financial assistance’ box on the Student
Commitment Form D and Mr Hilbie will contact you.
Letter Of Intent and Deposit
In order to get an accurate trip count, I am requesting that you please fill out the attached
Student Commitment Form D accompanied by a $45.00 non-refundable check payable to
Mystic Middle School by Friday, February 6, 2015. If you have any questions or concerns, please
call me at 536-9613.
Practicing and Grades
In order for the ensembles to sound the best they can, each and every member must dedicate time
to regular practicing. I have set a minimum grade of a B average or higher earned as an overall
band class grade beginning January 5, 2015 to attend this field trip.
Scholarship Donation
Each year there is an increased need for financial assistance for students who want to attend, but
whose families find it a financial hardship. I am looking for donations to help assist in this matter.
I do get wonderful support from the PTO, but due to the increased number of requests, I do not
want to over-tax this fine organization! All donations are tax deductible-I will provide you with a
letter for this purpose. Any size donation is welcome-thank you so much for considering it!
