Studio Policy:
Mission Statement/Goals:
As a student of the flute, you have the exciting opportunity to learn something new as well as
something about yourself through the process of this challegening yet equally rewarding and fun
craft. In our time spent studying flute together there are some goals we will strive to accomplish:
 The student will develop the tools needed to succeed as a musician and as means of
expression. These tools include but are not limited to, Technique (Major,minor scales and
areggios), Tone Production, Vibrato, Ear Training/Intonation, Phrasing, Articulation,
Dynamics, Breathing, as well as correct posture/stance.
 The student will develop important skills related to musicianship including practice
techniques, time management, performance and public speaking skills as goal setting and
achieving.
Materials:
The following materials will be necessary to ensure success in lessons and practicing.
-Pencil
-A good working flute (I will be happy to make suggestions and aid in finding one if necessary)
-Metronome
-Tuner
-Copies of music we will study
-3 Ring Binder with Blank sheets of white paper
-Personal Recording Device (suggested but not required)
-Music Stand (for practice at home)
Lessons, Payment and Cancelation Policy:
Students may choose to either have 30 or 60 minute lessons. Rates are as follows:
30 minutes: $15
60 minutes: $25
Group Lessons: TBD
All payment is due at the start of the lesson or students may pay a month in advance at a time.
Payment is accepted in cash or checks made payable to Ian Wenz
Cancelation:
If you need to cancel, please inform me via phone call within at least 24 hours of our scheduled
lesson time , with sickness being an exception to this request. If the lesson is considered unexcused,
payment for the missed lesson will be due at the start of the following lesson. I am happy to
reschedule in the event of a student needing to miss a lesson for a particular week. This will be
when I am informed of a cancelation. I will follow the same procedueres and notify student/parent
well in advance in the event of a cancelation. In the event I need to cancel a lesson I will promptly
reschedule.
Parents/Guardians are welcome to sit in on lessons and the recording of lessons is strongly
encouraged for personal study.
Performance Opportunities:
In addition to participation in their local school band and orchestra programs, students are strongly
encouraged to perform in the community and in nearby flute-related events. I will provide students
with information regarding upcoming flute/music related events in their area. These events are by
no means required, but are highly suggested as they will only further aid in the growth of the
student as flutist/musician.
