“The Object of Faith”
Run the race to glory, “seeing” yourself there!
“We walk by faith, not by sight.” 2Cor. 5:7
“Count it all joy…” Jas. 1:2a
“… He who began a good work in you will bring it to
completion…” Phil. 1:6
Passage Summary: God has given believers the testimony of
those who ran the race looking to King Jesus who lives in glory.
I. Vv 12:1a-b (Witnesses): Witnesses testify.
a. Who are they?
b. Where is their testimony?

i. Obstacles/weight
ii. Sin
II. V12:1c (Race): Get ready to race!
a. Running the race is not optional; it’s life.
b. Running with endurance requires training.

III. V 12:2a (Object): The omnipotent object is Jesus.
a. The founder of faith, the architect…
b. The perfecter, He will finish what He starts.
c. “Our faith,” that is the one true faith, saving
faith, use the gift God has given!
IV. V 12b (Destination): Glory awaits!
a. The “joy set before” Jesus was His glory.
b. The downward spiral, “from heaven He came and
sought her:”
i. Humiliation, the Cross…
ii. Exaltation, the Resurrection and Ascension
iii. Glory, Restored Glory with the Father

earth…”
Application: Jesus, the object of saving faith, promised that we
will finish the race. How’s your race going? Are you training for
it by looking at those who did it? Are you seeking every day to
“live by faith” knowing that it is the object of your faith who is
carrying you? He has promised that you will cross the finish line
to glory!
