Vidyanand Jha
Vidyanand Jha is an Associate Professor in the Behavioural Sciences Group of Indian
Institute of Management Calcutta. He teaches Post Graduate level courses in Organisation
Behaviour; Organisation Theory; Management of Creativity and Innovation; Management of
Organisational Change; Organisational Development; and Knowledge Management.
He has conducted a large number of Management Development Programmes for working
managers from corporate, government and non government sectors on Human Resources
Management; Management of Creativity; Management of Organisational Change;
Interpersonal and Group Behaviour; Stress Management, Communication and Presentation
Skills etc. Some of his past clients include Hindustan Lever Limited, Exide Industries
Limited, L& T Limited, UBEST, Selvel Vantage Group, Bharat Aluminum Company Limited,
Hindustan Zinc Limited, UCO Bank, Coca Cola Hindustan Limited, Indian Oil Corporation,

In Bangladesh he has conducted programmes for Coats Bangladesh Limited and the
Royal Danish Embassy, Bangladesh.
He has also worked on a number of consulting assignments in the areas of organizational
development, strategy and human resources for clients such as Department of Education,
Government of India, Department of Wildlife and Forests, Government of West Bengal,
Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata, United Nation’s Development
Programme, India; Department of Health, Government of West Bengal etc.
He has designed and offered the first on-line MDP of IIM Calcutta in 2002. He is also an
Adjunct Faculty at Universitas 21 Global, Singapore, an online university.
Prof. Jha has a Ph. D. in organizational Behaviour from Indian Institute of Management,
Ahmedabad and a Post Graduate Diploma from Institute of Rural Management, Anand,
India. He has also worked with National Dairy Development Board, Anand, India for more
than three years after his post graduation.
Prof. Jha's research interests are in the area of creativity and organizational change. He
has published a number of papers in national journals.
He received the Best Case Writer award from Association of Indian Management
Schools in 1998.
Prof. Jha is also a poet, fiction writer, literary critic and translator in Maithili, an East
Indian language. His first poetry book in Maithili, Parati Jakan, was published by the
Sahitya Akademi, Delhi, the national academy of letters in 2003. He was also given the
Katha Translation Award, a national level award for literary translations in 1999.
