special focus on web-based instruction and English Language
Learners (ELL)
 Updating my knowledge of current educational issues, policies,
and practices in K-12 teacher education
Objectives:
 To further develop my professionalism, experience, and expertise
as a college professor and proponent of education
 To communicate appropriate professional and career information
to colleagues, pre-service and in-service teachers, and the
community

 Complete Master of Science in Educational Studies from Johns
Hopkins University
 Complete a graduate certificate in ESL instruction from Johns
Hopkins University
 Investigate doctoral programs related to the field of education
 Maintain current teacher certifications and memberships in
professional organizations
 Attend and make presentations at workshops, conferences, and
courses that focus on teacher education, web-based instruction
and English Language Learners
 Explore current issues through journals, publications, the
Internet, and conversations with other educators
3.2 Instructional/Pedagogy
Goals:
 Expanding the use of active learning in the classroom
 Integrating technology into classroom instruction, distance
learning, and assessment
 Improving pedagogy in relation to adult learning.
Objectives:
 To support active student engagement in the classroom for more
in-depth and meaningful understanding of course material
 To stay current with technology in the field of education and
model technology use
 To maintain and model high standards of teaching excellence in
higher education
Proposed/Projected Activities:
 Participate in the Savvy Cyber Professor Program – part of the
Pathways Project and The League for Innovation
 Integrate active learning through interactive and cooperative class
activities
 Demonstrate effective pedagogy through innovative lesson
planning
 Observe the active learning, technology infused instruction, and
innovative pedagogy of other educators
 Attend workshops, conferences, or classes that focus on active
learning, technology, and innovative instructional strategies
 Participate in projects focused on effective technology use (i.e.

 Integrate and model the use of technology in courses by creating

Institute, and the college community (i.e. adjunct orientations,
faculty convocations and the Learning College)
 Serve as an educational consultant to the community (i.e. make
presentations to faculty of local public and private schools)
 Assist in the development and implementation of new credit and
non-credit courses for the education department and TEACH
