New KATA Backpack System
Meets Special Demands of Outdoor Video
IBC 2001, Amsterdam, September 14 (Stand 11.241)—KATA Video Bags and Cases
has added two new video backpacks, the CPB-3 and CPB-2, to meet the particular needs
of outdoor production. KATA is distributed in the U.S. exclusively by the Tiffen
Company. The new backpacks embody KATA’s design philosophy of not only shaping
the pack to fit the equipment properly, but also shaping it to fit the wearer comfortably.
Each KATA product combines maximum equipment protection and ergonomic,
lightweight design in a way that actually hekps the user do a better job.
The CPB-3 can be used as an everyday camera case. In addition to a roomy main
compartment, there are six more pockets for accessories. The Modi-vers Divider System
lets the user customize dividers to create compartments for individual pieces of
equipment. Two S-shaped aluminum staves shift the weight from the user’s back and
shoulders to the hips. A rain cover comes with the CPB-3, but an optional Outdoor Kit
that includes a tripod sling and another rain cover is available.
An advanced harness system distributes the weight evenly and can be adjusted to fit any
body size by varying the height of the ZigZag Shoulder Straps and the length of the Beta
Waist Belt. The harness can easily be packed and hidden inside when not in use. The
CPB-3 can be attached to InserTrolley, a removable/interchangeable trolley system
developed by KATA for wheeling the pack through airports and anyplace the harness is
not needed.

Slightly smaller than the CPB-3, the CPB-2 is made for the smaller cameras used by
semi-professional and amateur videographers. It has a unique dual-zipper design that
gives easy access to individual compartments or the entire pack at once, if desired. Two
large, padded compartments have separate zipper openings; the top one has an additional
bellows pocket. As with the CPB-3, a concealable harness system and a Delrin rod that
arcs around the outer edge of the pack shift the weight from the back and shoulders to
the hips. A rain cover is included.
The KATA line descends from bags and cases that were initially made for the Israeli
military. For this reason, they have the rugged construction and portability needed for
the military. To cover the complete range of carrying needs for broadcast professionals,
KATA provides Compact Camera Cases, Producer’s Cases, Backpacks, Hard Shells,
“Tripobags,” as well as rain covers, monitor cases, belts, filter pouches, camera gloves,
mixer cases, and even a body armor vest for camera operators working in high-risk
situations.
KATA Bags are available through the Tiffen dealer network worldwide. For a brochure
