applications are due on January 13, 2016.

The application deadline for Ontario Colleges is fast
approaching. The equal consideration date is

PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment
and Recognition)
Interested in seeking OSSD credit for prior
knowledge and skills acquired outside of your
TDSB education? PLAR is a challenge process for
assessing and evaluating your prior learning to
determine whether you meet provincial curriculum
expectations in a specific course, for which you
may be eligible to receive the credit towards your
diploma.
All interested students and parents/guardians
must attend a mandatory
information/orientation session on Wednesday,
February 10, 2016 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at
Earl Haig Secondary School.
The challenge process will be clarified and
curriculum specialists will answer questions. There
is a letter available in the Main Office as well as the
Guidance Office with details outlining the process.
Registration is from 6:00pm to 6:30pm and the
presentation is from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. If you
have any questions please contact Mr. Pascua in
Guidance.
MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING

Guelph Scholarship
Students applying to the University of
Guelph with a 90% average should consider
applying for the Guelph Chancellor and
President scholarships. These $34,000
awards are available to all applicants who
meet the criteria and submit their
applications online no later than January

Schulich Leader Scholarships
Schulich Leader Scholarships are
prestigious entrance scholarships awarded
to high school graduates enrolling in
Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) programs at their
Canadian partner universities. Fifty
scholarships are awarded each year, with
half of those being worth $80,000 and the
other half worth $60,000. Each school can
nominate one student for this scholarship. If
you are interested in applying to be our
school nominee, submit a document to Mr.
Low that lists your top 3 achievements
(academic or other) and a letter of
reference. Applications are due Friday,
January 15, 2016 at 12:00 pm. Please see

University of King's College, Halifax
Scholarship
The University of King's College in Halifax is
offering four $25,000 entrance scholarships
for students who show academic excellence
and leadership qualities. Students wishing
to apply are required to submit a cover
sheet and three copies of an analytical
essay. The deadline to apply is January

University of Western Ontario
National Scholarship Program
UWO's National Scholarships are designed
to recognize all-round excellence. They are
awarded on the basis of outstanding
academic performance to candidates who
demonstrate ability for creative and
innovative thought and a passion for the
pursuit of learning. National Scholarships
also recognize exceptional achievement in
extracurricular activities such as the arts
and athletics. A special emphasis is placed
on a candidate's commitment to community
service through ongoing contributions to
school and community life.
Students who are interested in being
nominated and who are applying to Western
and have a minimum current overall
average of 90% for ALL of their grade 12
U/M courses are invited to pick up a
scholarship nomination application package
from Mr. Low in Guidance. All application
packages are due by Monday, January
25 at noon. Each school can nominate 4
students.

 BISHOP’S UNIVERSITY
Bishop’s university is offering an
accelerated Open House Admissions
Fair on Feb. 14th, 2016. This is available for
applicants to all programs of study EXCEPT
Education or Music. Potential candidates
will receive an official response from the
Admissions Office before the end of the
Open House event. Students who intend to
participate in the Accelerated Open House
Admissions must bring a copy of their most
recent transcript and drop it off at the Open
