Thirteen Colonies Map

Use the following statements below,to help you label the 13 colonies map. Please place your name, class and period on the map.

1. Label each of the thirteen colonies on your map.

2. Label the three cities that were major points of entry into the colonies: Boston, Philadelphia, and Charles Town (Charleston)

3. Label the Atlantic Ocean and color it BLUE

4. Using the color RED, outline the colonies that are part of the New England region.

5. Using the color YELLOW, outline the colonies that are part of the Middle region.

6. Using the color GREEN, outline the colonies that are part of the Southern region.

7. Place a SQUARE on the coast of the colony in which Roanoke attempted to settle.

8. Place a STAR on the coast of the colony in which the first permanent colony was settled. Label the star with the name of this colony.

9. Place TWO TRIANGLES on the coast of the colony in which the two Massachusetts settlements occurred. Label these triangles with the names of the two settlements.

10. The English colonies were not the only Europeans to settle in North America. Label the area to the North with the name of the European country that owned that land.

11. Label the area to the South of the English colonies with the name of the European country that owned that land.

12. Using the color PURPLE, shade the colony that was formed for those who were unable to pay their debt.

13. Using the color ORANGE, shade the colony that was a haven for Roman Catholics.

14. Using the color BROWN, shade the colony that is associated with th e phrase “City upon a hill.”

15. Place RED POLKA DOTS on the colony that claimed all men have an “inner light.”
