ANSI B11.10-2003, Metal Sawing
Machines, Safety Requirements for
Construction, Care, and Use of
Covers the safety requirements as they relate
to the design, installation, safeguarding,
operation and maintenance of powered
machines used to saw metals.
ASME B107.4M-2005, Driving and Spindle
Ends for Portable Hand, Air, and Electric
Tools
Applies to portable power tools for drilling,
grinding, polishing, sawing, and driving
threaded fasteners and hand tools for driving
threaded fasteners. Other tools not classified
as percussion tools belong in this category and
may be added by revision or addition through
the usual procedure. This Standard includes
dimensions and tolerances for both driving and
driven elements where such coordination is
important and not established by reference to
the pertinent American National Standards. All
dimensions are in inches and millimeters.
ANSI B212.9-1994 (R2005), Cutting Tools Carbide Blanks for Tipping Circular Saws
Covers dimensional specifications and
designation for carbide blanks for tipping
circular saws. The values stated in US
customary units are to be regarded as the
standard.
ANSI B175.1-2000, Gasoline Powered
Chain Saws, Safety Requirements for
Establishes safety requirements for the
manufacture and use of portable, hand-held,
gasoline-powered chain saws. It contains
definitions of terms relevant to chain saws and
their use, and guidelines for certain chain saw
features. The standard also contains test
procedures and specific performance
requirements concerning vibration, sound
levels and bar nose kickback.
UL 60745-2-11-2004, Standard for Safety
for Hand-Held Motor-Operated Electric
Tools - Safety - Part 2-11: Particular
Requirements for Reciprocating Saws
This International Standard deals with the
safety of hand-held motor-operated or
magnetically driven electric tools, the rated
voltage of the tools being not more than 250 V
for single-phase a.c. or d.c. tools, and 440 V for
three-phase a.c. tools. This standard applies to
reciprocating saws (jig and sabre saws).

This standard applies only to grinding
machines, designed primarily for metal
removal, that present grinding tools against
workpieces, producing change in shape, size,
and surface finish by grinding. This standard
also applies to these machines when they are
grinding materials other than metals such as
glass, ceramics, plastics, and rubber.
