Position:
Anatomy Tutor (276 hours)
Reporting to the Director of Education, applications are being accepted for 2 Human Anatomy tutor positions for the 20122013 academic year. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate knowledge of dissection procedures and
gross anatomy prosections of the musculoskeletal, visceral, vascular, and nervous systems from the all regions of the
Human body.
Tutors are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of every tutorial group session; attend meetings called by
the course coordinator at regular times over the academic year; as well as provide input into the course as it evolves. In
addition, the tutor must participate (supervise) in and mark assessments (OSPE). Tutors are encouraged attend
lectures/presentations and to review the postings on KIRO. Finally, the tutor will make contributions to the program
through participation in approved educational activities.
Anatomy Labs are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the academic year (June to May).
The faculty member will be required to instruct students in a lab format, in the following 1st and 2nd year courses:
Human Gross Anatomy 1: Gross Anatomy is explored with the focus on the back, upper limb, head and neck regions.
Particular emphasis is placed on the relationships between the structure and function of the neuromuscular and skeletal
systems, from infancy through childhood, puberty, adolescence and old age, and the clinical significance of these
structures to the pertaining chiropractor, 84 Lab Hours
Human Gross Anatomy 1: Gross Anatomy is explored with the focus on the back, upper limb, head and neck regions.
Particular emphasis is placed on the relationships between the structure and function of the neuromuscular and skeletal
systems, from infancy through childhood, puberty, adolescence and old age, and the clinical significance of these
structures to the pertaining chiropractor, 176 Lab Hours
Human Neuroanatomy 2: The developmental, gross and functional anatomy of the human nervous system is presented
with a focus on the brain, brain stem and spinal cord. Particular emphasis is placed on the functional relationships
between structures along with the clinical significance of these structures to a practicing chiropractor, 24 Lab Hours
Human Gross Anatomy 2: Gross Anatomy is explored with the focus on lower limb, thorax, abdomen, and pelvic regions.
A regional approach is used with emphasis on the functional relationships between structure, in particular, the
musculoskeletal system and its joints, along with the clinical significance of these structures to a practicing chiropractor,

QUALIFICATIONS:







Minimum Master’s Degree in the anatomical sciences from an accredited post secondary institution.
Demonstrates experience or shows promise as a teacher; willing to attend CMCC’s Teacher Education Program 2012
spring or summer session
Critical and analytical thinker
Ability to prepare and/or contribute to the development of course outlines, learning objectives and assessment tools in
anatomy.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with mentoring students.
Demonstrates CMCC core values of Communication, Accountability, Respect & Excellence.
DETAILED TUTOR EXPECTATIONS:








Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of every tutorial group session.
Actively participate in the flow of information to the course coordinator and fellow tutors.
Participate in regular Teaching Team meetings including an orientation prior to the start of the course.
Participate in the design of course assignments and final exams.
Mark course assignments and exams and post grades within the timeframe required by CMCC.
Assist course coordinator with suggestions for course budget.
Ensure that you are up to date and understand all lecture materials and KIRO resources.
Track student attendance daily and immediately notify course coordinator of any concerns.
