Part One – (22 points) On the technology website, click on the link called
‘Computer Networks’. Use the navigation bar on the left hand side to read
the categories called: Home, Peer-to-Peer, Client/Server, LAN, and WAN.
Then, answer the questions listed below. When finished, add a new
slide to your electronic portfolio and call it Computer Network
Questions. Add a piece of computer clipart and add a hyperlink
to the clipart to this assignment. Each question is worth 2 points.
1. Define the meaning of the term Computer Network.
2. What 2 categories can networks be divided up into?
3. Define the term peer-to-peer network.
4. Describe the problem with peer-to-peer networks.
5. Define the term network cable.
6. Define the term hub.
7. Define the term client/server network.
8. Define the term server and give an example of something that would be saved
on it.
9. Define the term Local Area Network (LAN). Make sure you describe how large
of an area it covers.
10. Define the term Wide Area Network (WAN). Again, make sure you describe
how large of an area it covers.
11. Define the term Router.
Part Two – (20 points) Now that you’ve read about networks, you’re going to need
to diagram some. On the navigation bar on the left side of that Computer Networks
reading, click the link called Quiz. You will need to correctly put together a peer-topeer network, a client/server network, a LAN, and a WAN. Once you’ve
correctly put together each network, take a screen shot of it
by holding down your CTRL + Print Screen button. Add a new
slide for each network into your electronic portfolio and add
the screen shot of that network to it. Each diagram is worth 5
points.
