SENIORS: If you have not heard from the federal government or the state of California about financial aid,
follow up is needed. Cash for College will be available today Friday, March 28, 2pm-5pm, online from any
computer, table or smartphone with an Internet connection. Commission staff and campus financial aid reps
will offer assistance on Student Aid Reports (SAR) or the CalSAR for Dreamers, opening up Cal Grant
WebGrants accounts, and all other follow up needs. Students can create a login at
www.collegeweeklive.com/MyCash4College. See Ms. Gonzalez in the Guidance Office if you want a flyer
with information.
9th, 10th, 11th grade students: For those of you interested in registering for Band and/or Orchestra for the
next school year, please see Dr. Bartlett first. She will give you a form to fill out and requires her signature.
You will give this form to your counselor the day of your registration meeting.
DRUM SHOW
Get ready to groove! The Drum Show is coming next Friday, April 4, in our auditorium at 7 pm. Come rock
with the sounds of World Drumming and Percussion Ensembles! Tickets only $5 from any drumming student.
ASB and class officer voting will be held on March 31 & April 1 @ lunch in Palm Court.
"Help send the MKHS Dance Company to U.S. Nationals! Next week, on Tuesday April 1st, the dance team
and all male dance crew will be hosting a Shakey's Night fundraiser at Shakey's pizza parlour on Valley Blvd in
Alhambra from 5pm-9pm. Bring your friends, family and teachers! Help our talented dancers earn funds to
attend Miss Dance Drill Team USA nationals in two weeks. Thank you all so much for your support!"

Be a part of history. See the movie "Cesar Chavez" in theatres the weekend of March 28th in honor of Cesar
Chavez weekend.
Also, there is a drive to create a nationally recognized day of service in honor of Cesar Chavez's birthday. If
you are interested in this effort, go to www.takepart.com/chavez.
IDEA Magazine is now accepting submissions for original artwork, short stories, photography, and poetry.
Please submit online to facebook/groups/mkhsideamagazine or in person to your English teacher. Deadline is

SENIORS: Don't forget to apply for the Alhambra Management Scholarship if you are interested in a career in
teaching or public service. They are offering Four $500 scholarships. Go pick up an application in the
Guidance Office. Deadline is April 1, 2014.
SENIORS: First District PTA and Alhambra Council PTA are each offering a scholarship to a graduating high
school senior . Must be a current PTA member. For qualifications pick up an application in the Guidance
office. Deadline is April 10, 2014.
SENIORS: Apply for the 2014 Chen Foundation Scholarship Program. Must plan to attend a California State
University or California Community College and have a GPA of 3.0. Pick up an application in the Guidance
Office. Deadline is May 16, 2014.
SENIORS: The 2014 Diamond Wipes Scholarship Program is also offering a scholarship. Student must be
planning to attend Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Fullerton, or Cal State San Bernardino. Plan to major in biology,
microbiology, business management, chemistry, graphic design, web design, information technology,
marketing, E-marketing, statistics, or supply chain management. Must also have a GPA of 3.0. Pick up an
application in the Guidance Office. Deadline is April 30, 2014.
SENIORS: Apply for the AAEDE Scholarship. Must demonstrate Financial need (applicant must have
submitted a FAFSA form by the March 2014 deadline, a GPA of 3.0 and above and must be U.S. citizen. Pick
up an application in the Guidance Office. Deadline is June 13, 2014.
TO ALL STUDENTS: Almansor Court is having a Fashion Show on April 6, 2014. They need volunteers to
help. They need 6-8 students from 9:00am - 11:30am and 4-6 students from 12:30pm -2:30pm. If you are
interested in volunteering see Ms. Gonzalez in the Guidance Office. Please let me know by Thursday, April 3,
2014. Thank you!
SENIORS: If you are interested in art apply for the Dr. Barbara Cinke Art Scholarship. Pick up an application
in the Guidance Office. Deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2014. You may also talk to Ms. Bostwick.
SENIORS: The Jeanne Ward Foundation will be granting up to twelve (12) $1,750 awards to students who
qualify. If you are interested in art, pick up an application in the Guidance Office or speak with Ms Bostwick.
Deadline is April 16, 2014.
SENIORS: Apply for the Glenn N. Nishizawa Memorial Scholarship. Applications in the Guidance Office.
Deadline is Monday, April 14, 2014.
SENIORS: American Academy of Pediatrics is offering their 2014 Medicine-Biological Sciences Scholarship.
Students applying for this program must be planning to enter a college or university to study Medicine or
Biological Sciences. Emphasis will be placed on SAT and GPA, but financial need will be strongly considered
as well as extra-curricular activities. Deadline has been extended to April 28, 2014. Pick up information in the
Guidance Office.
