English 10 Thesis Paper In your thesis paper, you will need to make a thesis statement on a chosen topic. Keep in mind when choosing your topic that you will be required to present not only your view, but also the opposing view and back them up with facts. Finally, by using facts, you must show how your view is the more logical choice. There should be no OPINION in your paper. Instead, you should present your opinion by using FACTS which FAVOR your opinion. 1. The FINAL DRAFT --a cover page with the following information: --Title --by: Your Name --Date --English II --Teacher’s Name -- a final outline --5 - 7 pages typed (page 5 must be over half way completed; does not include any pages other than the essay). --double spaced --1 inch margins all the way round; first page begins 2 inches down the page --12 pt., default font --tab for paragraphs, and only return ONCE for a new paragraph --all paragraphs must have in-text citation except for your introductory and concluding paragraph --a final Works Cited page --a blank sheet of paper --staple in upper left hand corner 2. Thesis Paper Deadlines ALL due dates must be met on time. All late work will be deducted 10% the first day, 50% the second day, and zero points for any day thereafter. If you fail to turn in an assignment on time your parents will be called and you will need to stay after school the next Tuesday and Thursday to make up that assignment for no or reduced credit. Normal absence rules will apply, except those for the rough draft and final copy. These must be there on the due date, whether or not you are in school. They must be in the teacher’s possession on or before the beginning of class the day they are due or they will be worth ZERO POINTS.
