Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology
The University of Macau, a public university located in the Macao Special Administrative Region of
the People’s Republic of China, invites applications for the position of Dean of Faculty of Science
and Technology.
The Faculty of Science and Technology
The Faculty of Science and Technology provides science and engineering education and awards
Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees in various branches of science and engineering, namely, Civil
and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical
Engineering, Computer and Information Science, E-Commerce and Mathematics.
The Faculty possesses a team of 110 academic staff and a student population of 990. There are 35
laboratories for teaching and research purposes and plans for expansion are in place.
The Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology
The successful candidate should have considerable experience in faculty management, academic
strategy planning, curriculum design, laboratory setup and research development, and is highly
committed to the pursuit of excellence in both teaching and research. The successful candidate is
expected to assume the position in 2009/2010 academic year commencing in September, 2009. The
initial appointment is for three to five years and is subject to renewal of longer terms.
In particular, the candidate should have the following credentials:
1. Has a PhD degree in science or engineering;
2. Has attained full professor status at a reputable university with outstanding records in teaching
and research;
3. Has a minimum of three years of academic management experience at the level of Head of
Department or above, with demonstrable administrative and communication competence;
4. Bilingual ability in Chinese and English is preferred.
Remuneration (taxable)
Remuneration offered will be highly competitive and commensurate with academic qualification,
current position and professional experience. Current local maximum income tax rate is 12%.
