 Offered and assumed this management position ashore overseeing the administration of seven T-AGS
Oceanographic Survey Ships under government contract with Military Sealift Command and manned by civilian
mariners.
 Undertake the role of a Ship Superintendent, Marine Fleet Manager and fulfilling Port Captain duties.
 Manage and direct daily vessel operations responding to contract requirements of the customer to ensure effective
performance by shoreside employees and shipboard crews.
 Coordinate and supervise scheduling requirements, proper crewing, training, maintenance, repair, overhaul,
purchasing, payroll and budgetary matters related to operation of the T-AGS vessels.
 Act as Assistant Facility Security Officer to manage personnel security clearances, address ship security issues and
monitor marine insurance matters.
 Facilitate Safety Management System procedures assuring vessel compliance with safety and regulatory concerns,
evaluate corrective actions.
 Prepare and approve agent port support service orders, appraise and process invoices, also authorize payments for

 Served primarily in this capacity aboard multipurpose military chartered ships handling Roll On/Roll Off, Breakbulk
and Containerized Lift On/Lift Off also Bulk Liquid Petroleum cargoes.
 In command of seven separate ships and from January of 1999 through August of 2003 the USNS Watson, first of
eight in its class of newly built gas turbine propelled LMSR's - Large Medium-Speed Roll On/Roll Off ships.
 Ship's Captain for two designated flagships in support of Marine Corps and Army prepositioning ship squadrons.
 Senior management representative of the company, full responsibility for the seaworthiness, sanitation, condition,
appearance and safety of the vessel, the crew and its cargo. Hold overall authority and responsibility with respect to
all ship's business and its operations.
 Supervise Deck, Engine and Steward Department heads in overseeing the training and efficiency of the ship's crew
totaling about 30 personnel. Interrelate in operations with contractors, military and other organizations assigned to
the vessel which can include up to nearly 70 additional personnel.
 Responsible for operating the vessel in accordance with and maintaining all records required by the company, the
laws of the flag of the vessel, regulations, policies and procedures of the company, international conventions,
regulatory and classification society.
 Entrusted with managing and ensuring the accuracy of the ship's accounts, funds and monthly payroll regularly
keeping approximately $30,000 to $50,000 in money on hand.
 Accountable for implementing the company's quality and International Safety Management system.
 Presented United States Merchant Marine Expeditionary Award in November 2003.
 While on vacation filled a relief position as Chief Mate in January of 2001 aboard a Fast Sealift Ship operated by
American Overseas Marine, Quincy, MA also during June through July of 1999 did temporary work as a Mate with
the North Carolina Department of Transportation Ferry Division, Morehead City, NC.

sailed a coastwise voyage, dry-docked for repairs and transfer to the reserve fleet.
