Course: ESL 1052: Grammar Review and Vocabulary Development, CRN# 3075
Description:
Basic grammar and vocabulary review. Emphasis is on basic grammatical forms and
functions. Vocabulary development consists of identifying key words and phrases for
increased expression, especially in speaking, writing and reading.

in digital format on the Canvas site and available for check out in the classroom.
 Focus on Grammar 4 (textbook & workbook)/ Fourth Edition/ Fuchs, Bonner, &
Westheimer
 Basic class materials (e.g., notebook, folder, pencil/pen)
Student Performance Objectives (Course Objectives):
1. Use basic grammatical forms with minimal errors.
2. Identify key words and phrases for increased expression.
3. Apply language functions in daily activities.
4. Use a variety of synonyms, antonyms and homonyms.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to…
1. Convey meaning by effectively producing well organized and grammatically correct
sentences.
2. Recognize grammar terminology as well as key vocabulary words and phrases.
Attendance Policy:
Four consecutive absences can result in student being dropped. However, the teacher
may allow limited excused absences as required. Students must notify the teacher
ahead of time when possible (e.g., tell teacher, tell classmate).
