This role profile is non-contractual and provided for guidance. It will be updated and amended from time to time in accordance with the changing needs of the University and the requirements of the job.

PURPOSE OF ROLE: To engage in lecturing, research and enterprise activities in the Department of Applied

Engineering and Management (AEM) together with other academic and administrative functions associated with the broader Faculty of Engineering and Science.

Following the restructuring of the Engineering provision, the Department of AEM has been allocated the responsibility of developing and delivering all programmes, research and outreach activities in the general area of applied engineering, business and management. The range of programmes offered is very wide, ranging from BEng/MEng degrees in Engineering (e.g. Engineering Business Management, Industrial Engineering,

Design Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Project Management) to FDA / BA Business Administration (with optional specialisation in Marketing, Accounting & Finance), BSc / MSc in Information and Communication

Technology (ICT), Information Technology Management for Business (ITMB), MSc Engineering Management,

MSc Marine Engineering Management, MSc Oil & Gas, MSc Global Shipping Management, Degree

Apprenticeships, BA/BSc/MSc Advances Professional Studies and so on. In short, the Department aims at offering programmes and research in all areas where the application of technologies creates and supports businesses in successfully delivering high financial performance in the global competitive markets.

Furthermore, through its international collaborations, the Department is providing programmes in Economics,

Marketing, International Business, Shipping and General Management catering for over 1500 students based off campus.

Lastly, working closely with industry, the Department provides research and consultancy services, degree programmes and short courses to prestigious partner organisations such as the Royal School of Military

Engineering (RSME), Ford Motor Company, Lloyd’s Bank plc, Cummins Engines, GlaxoSmithKline,Tata Steel,

Tate & Lyle, Unilever, Alstom Power, EON, Rolls Royce any many more.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Team Specific:

Within the Department, to contribute to the continuing academic development of the Applied Engineering and

Management (AEM) programmes.

To contribute to the broader operational needs of the Faculty of Engineering and Science.

Generic:

To deliver and develop courses in Applied Engineering and Management subjects with emphasis on

Marketing, Applied Marketing, E-Commerce and Social Media Marketing

To engage in and contribute to the delivery of other courses and programmes in the Faculty of

Engineering and Science

To support the transnational education provision of the Faculty, including MSA University in Cairo, NYC

Greece etc.
