Journal Entry Directions
You are to write a 150 word diary entry from the perspective of a
Native American on the Trail of Tears. You can choose to be a member of
any of the Five Civilized Tribes. You might choose to describe your
feelings towards President Jackson. You could also choose to describe the
types of diseases and dangers faced by your tribe on the Trail of Tears.
You could also compare your new home to the one you left. However, you
can write on anything as long as it directly relates to the Trail of Tears and
is historically accurate. This assignment will be graded based on its
creativity and whether it is historically accurate or not.
