SMH Diabetes Centre GESTATIONAL DIABETES DIET GUIDELINES GUIDELINES The following foods are concentrated sources of sugar and should be avoided: sweetened or unsweetened juice sugar, honey, syrup dried fruit, candied fruit candy, chocolate fruit canned in syrup sweetened cereal regular Jello®, pudding, ice cream sweetened yoghurt cakes, pastry, pies, donuts, sweet rolls chocolate milk iced tea, lemonade, fruit flavoured mineral water regular soft drinks, tonic water jam, jelly, marmalade sweetened chewing gum (Alternatives to the above sweet foods are Crystal Light, Sugar-Free Koolaid, Equal, Splenda, fruit canned in juice, Jello Light, plain or aspartame-sweetened yoghurt, diet pop, and sugar-reduced jam.)
