Discovery of novel analgesic agents with opioid or non-opioid mechanisms of action. Preclinical
models for drug screening. Endogenous analgesic neuropeptide and neurotransmitter agonists
and antagonists and the physiological processes involved in tolerance development and abuse
liability. Synergistic analgesic combinations. In vivo antisense approach. Theoretical pharmacology. Thermodynamics of the drug-receptor interaction.
