“As for the music, it is first rate power-pop from a scene (Kansas City) that is on its way out
of the trash-rock doldrums. The songs are catchy, and it is true, you can actually sing along,
or God forbid, even dance to this.” - Amazon.com
Hometown:
Kansas City, Mo.
Musical Style:
Gritty guitar-driven power-pop saturated with sing-a-long melodies and unforgettable
hooks.
History:
Founded in late 1994, this foursome quickly made a name for themselves in Kansas City’s
music scene with their high-energy live perfomances. Some 500 cassette singles were distributed at those early shows.
Soon after, the CD EP “Noose” would garner airplay on commercial and college radio and
sell out of its original pressing of 500 copies. September 1999 marked the release of their
first full-length album, “See How You Are,” on the Prairie Village, KS, indie Saviour Records.
A modest 600 copies have been sold since via live shows, local retail and the internet on
Amazon.com.
Achievements:
-Selected to appear on “Just What This World Needs... A Tribute to Material Issue,” a tribute to Chicago pop rockers Material Issue, scheduled for release April 22, 2000, on Veronica
Records. Contributing the song, “A Very Good Thing,” Aberdeen joins Local H, Triple Fast
Action and other nationally-known artists in their homage to the late Jim Ellison.
-Composed and recorded the theme song for “Stan and Joel in the Living Room,” a popular local radio program. The song’s “We Are the World” style guest vocal appearances by
some 20 local music celebrities made the theme a hit and received much local press.
-Supported a variety of major label recording artists including The Samples (an odd
match, but the 1000+ crowd dug us), Columbia Record’s Dovetail Joint, RCA’s The
Mysterys of Life, Mammoth/Atlantic’s Kill Creek, Sony 550’s Ultimate Fakebook, and
Interscope’s Love Nut.
