“WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?” PLAN
by Sarah Buel
Dreams by Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die
Life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams for when dreams go
Life is a barren field frozen with snow.
Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun,
Or fester like a sore and then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat
Or crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet?
Does it sag like a heavy load
Or does it explode?
I.
The purpose of this plan is to position survivors as champions in empowering
ourselves through access to education, job, and career opportunities. By creating
individualized action plans and building self-esteem, participants are assisted in
empowering ourselves to envision a future in which we, too, can achieve our dreams.
The objective is to increase the number of survivors planning their futures with the
support of our communities.
