Practical (portfolio) examination
Stage 3
Practical (portfolio) examination submission date
Schools are required to submit their candidates’ practical (portfolio) examination submissions
by 4.00 pm on Wednesday, 24 September 2014.
Materials required for this practical (portfolio) examination
submission
To be submitted by the candidate
Practical (portfolio) examination submission that must:
● include an index of the contents identifying each project
● include a checklist that indicates all documents conform to the practical (portfolio)
specifications
● include the design project (up to 15 pages)
● include the completed Designer statement
● include the completed References/acknowledgement form
● be accompanied by a completed Declaration of authenticity.
Important note to candidates
It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that each item submitted is labelled securely with
their School Curriculum and Standards Authority student number. A candidate’s name, names of
persons associated with the candidate’s school or family and the school name must not appear
on any item, nor should the work contain evidence of previous marking.
Any practical (portfolio) examination submitted to the Authority without a completed Declaration
of authenticity will result in a referral to the Breach of Examination Rules committee.

Structure of the examination
The WACE Design Stage 3 examination consists of a written component worth 50 per cent of
the total examination score and a practical (portfolio) component worth 50 per cent of the total
examination score.

Instructions to candidates
1.
You must ensure that the main development of your work takes place in school time.
2.
Under no circumstances can any other person work directly on any part of your practical
(portfolio) examination submission.
3.
The 15 A3 single-sided sheets must be:
● clipped together in one corner with a paperclip and should not be presented in a file
● numbered in the top right hand corner
● clearly labelled on the right hand footer of the page with the candidate’s School
Curriculum and Standards Authority student number.
4.
This work is not to be submitted by you for any other WACE course.
