A C or better grade is required in all prerequisite courses, and the minimum prerequisite GPA to be considered in 2014 was 2.80.

What do I need to know about applying to U of M PharmD?

Like most pharmacy schools, U of M PharmD uses PharmCAS as their application server: http://www.pharmcas.org

. The application deadline is December 1st.

A supplemental application is required and the deadline is December 1 st . The supplemental application fee is

$75. This includes a personal statement that is specific to UM and a resume.

Students have two 40 minute interviews with faculty members, preceptors, alumni, and/or current students and conclude the day meeting with a group of currently enrolled students with lunch provided.

Interviews are “blind,” meaning interviewers do not have access to the candidate’s application (i.e. GPA, PCAT scores, etc.) Visiting classes/college tour included.

Two letters of recommendation should be submitted electronically using the PharmCAS system. One letter must be from an employer or supervisor. The second letter can be from a faculty advisor, health care professional, professor, or teaching assistant. Letters from clergy, co-workers, family members, friends, politicians, pre-health advisors, and committee letters are not accepted. Composite letters are accepted and recommended.

Tuition and Fees for 2015-2016 are $24,504 (in-state).

What is it like to be a U of M PharmD student?

Years 1, 2, and 3

U of M PharmD Curriculum :

Clinical experiences begin the first year and are structured over four years to build high-level competencies via on-location training, coursework, and laboratory assignments. Students partner with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, nutritionists, and other health care professionals. Courses taken include classes in Drug

Delivery, Community Pharmacy, Principles of Drug Action, Pharmaceutical Care,

Health Care Systems, Self-Care, Pharmacokinetics Concepts, Therapeutic

Problem Solving, Research Methods, and Ethics.

Year 4

(more than 640 clerkship experiences are offered around the U.S. & overseas)

The fourth-year will consists of rotations at a diversity of sites with the purpose of helping students to choose the career path that best suits their talents and aspirations.
