Paper Towel Testing Lab Report
You will now type up your paper towel lab findings into a formal lab report. This lab report will
need to be typed and formatted similar to what you see below.
Problem
Which brand of paper towel will absorb the most water? (this is exactly what yours should look
like because everyone had the same question)
Scientific Principle (4 points)
This is where you will describe what your paper towel looked like and felt like (your
observations). You will also tell what brands of paper towel you were studying and do some
research on those brands of paper towel. Try to answer the following questions; What factors
can affect how much a paper towel absorbs? Are all paper towels made of the same materials?
What are the paper towels you were testing made of? What was the area of one piece of the
paper towel? How much does each of the paper towels you were testing cost? This section
should be at least one paragraph long. You will need to include a bibliography containing the
sources you used in this section.
Hypothesis (2 points)
You will write your hypothesis here. You can revise your wording from the 1 st draft, but you
cannot revise your prediction.

This section should include a materials list and a procedure.

You will make your graph using google docs and then insert it into your lab report.
Conclusion (4 points)
Your conclusion should be at least one paragraph. You need to rephrase the hypothesis and say
whether or not it was supported. You need to justify what you say with your data. In addition,
please include an analysis of what paper towel would be the best value based on cost and
absorbency. What type would you recommend your parents buy? If you can figure out how to
calculate how much each paper towel absorbed per square centimeter that would be great.
Reflection (2 points)
In this section you need to discuss what you did well in this lab and what could be improved
upon. Also, provide some ideas for further tests/investigations in the area of paper towel
absorbency. This section should be at least one paragraph.
