Final AP Statistics Project

First you will choose whether to work alone or work with a partner. (Juniors can only pair with juniors and seniors can only pair with seniors) Second you will be given one of the following topics below. The more difficult the topic you choose, the more it can help your overall class grade (Those who push themselves and do well will benefit the most).

Topics will be agreed upon by the entire class. As each project only requires one multistep problem per topic, it is expected that this one problem will be done in great detail with an explanation of each and every step, not just in calculation but in justification, too; an explanation of how to do it on the calculator is optional, however, if well done will help you greatly. Key terms and topics must be defined as you do the problem. Organization of your solution will be key so make sure you plan ahead and don’t try and stuff info in later.

This project can raise your grade up to 10% of your current grade and lower it up to to 10% of your current grade.

Exceptional projects will have a chance to raise the grade further; while refusing to turn in a project will drop your current grade 15%. This project is due on May 23rd for seniors and June 6th for juniors. If you score an A on it you do not have to do a cross examination. Those who need to do a cross examination will do so on On May 27 if you are a senior, and during final exams if you are a junior; the results of the cross examination will effect your project grade and your two

Mock AP Exam grades. The cross examination can be on any topic from the entire year, not just the one you chose.

Realize some of the following topics will not increase your grade a full 10% of your grade so choose wisely.

Over the next two weeks you will be making a video teaching one specific topic from Statistics. To receiving a passing grade on this assignment you must meet each of the following requirements. Please realize that the project must be done on Mr. Beyronneau’s iPad using Educreate so plan ahead. Other aspects of the video are:

1. Your video will be long enough to teach your material but no longer than 10 minutes, so plan ahead.

2. You must get your solution checked off by Mr. Beyronneau.

3. You must write a complete script of what you are going to record before recording and get it approved by Mr. B.

4. Your video may contain creative examples but the tone of the video itself should be serious as you are trying to help others understand.

5. The examples are solely owned by you.

Topics for the project:

1. A full SCS using a histogram.

2. A full SCS using a box plot.

3. A full SCS comparison using box plots.

4. The Empirical Rule along with z-score.

5. A full interpretation of linear regression, including an interpretation of r, it’s square, the slope, it’s residuals, the y-intercept, and at least one interpolation.

6. A full interpretation of linear regression, including an interpretation of r, it’s square, the slope, it’s residuals, the y-intercept, and the discussion of whether a point is high leverage or influential.

7. Binomial Probability and Geometric Probability

8. Using Simulations to calculate probabilities

9. Expected Value Formulas including variance and standard deviation.

10. One Proportion Confidence Intervals and Hypothesis Testing

11. One Sample Means Confidence Intervals and Hypothesis Testing

12. Two Proportion Confidence Interval and Hypothesis Testing

13. Two Sample Mean Confidence Intervals and Hypothesis Testing

14. Chi-Square Goodness of Fit Testing

15. Chi-Square Test For Independence Testing

Juniors will then also form groups of 3 - 6 and make a recruiting video for AP Stats. This video will be a cover of any song of your choice. It’s goal is to explain to people why they should take AP Stats. It is due May 30th and must be in iTunes format.
