Session 201: Overcoming the Instructor Identity Crisis: Engagement Tools for all Teaching Styles

Presenters: Jennifer Morgan and Mandy Jordan

Description:

Many instructors experience an “identity crisis” at some point in their careers, where they struggle with identifying their own personal teaching style and matching that to today’s demand for engagement in the classrooms. We ask the questions “How do I make this work for me?” “What does this look like in MY classroom?” and even, “Why should I change anything?” In this session, we’ll first explore the various teaching styles that are likely represented in our audience. Then, we’ll share engagement tools that are most useful for each style and discuss the value of resolving our identity issues to create a learner centered classroom!
