Directions: Tell the student to read each of the short passage and then using their clues,
decide on the best meaning of glurp (or the actual vocabulary word). Tell
the student to say or write the meaning of the word based upon the clues
that the author provides.

he frightened student watched the funnel shaped cloud
move straight toward them. Suddenly, the students say
the glurp (tornado) change it’s course. The red sky and
clouds of dust began to shift in another direction. The
students were relieved that the glurp (tornado) did not
destroy their school.

hen the sun hit its glurp (zenith) which means right
overhead, I could tell it was noon by the tremendous
heat.
