The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State
University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in
the area of power and energy systems engineering, power electronics, or
electric machines at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks to begin
in 2015 (www.ece.iastate.edu). Exceptional senior candidates in the specified
area may be considered for an endowed research chair/professorship
position.
Iowa State University is a comprehensive, land grant, Carnegie
Doctoral/Research Extensive University with an enrollment of over 33,000
students. The College of Engineering comprises 8 departments, with over 230
faculty members and annual research expenditures exceeding $80 million.
Iowa State's nearly 2000-acre campus is located in the city of Ames, Iowa,
which is consistently ranked within the top ten most livable small cities in the
nation.
Iowa State has maintained one of the nation's leading power and
energy/power electronics university programs for over 60 years. Faculty in this
area work together within the Electric Power and Energy Systems (EPES)
group (http://www.ece.iastate.edu/research/graduate-studentresearch/electric-power-energy-systems/) within the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering. These faculty participate heavily in the ISU EPRC
(http://powerweb.ece.iastate.edu/), the ISU EPES Short Course Program
(http://powerweb.ece.iastate.edu/extension.shtml), and the 13-university
PSERC (http://powerweb.ece.iastate.edu/pserc.shtml).
Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses,
(primary focus on power and energy systems/power electronics/electric
machines engineering); mentor and engage undergraduate, as well as
prospective students; develop and sustain externally-funded research; engage
with industry via the ISU Electric Power Research Center (EPRC) and the
Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC); supervise and
mentor graduate students; and engage in professional and institutional service
and leadership. Candidates must hold an earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree
in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field on
or before the hire date. Candidates for the ranks of Associate or Full Professor
must, in addition to the above, demonstrate an excellent record of funded
research and internationally recognized scholarship. Women and members of
