INTEREST INVENTORY
The COPS provides job activity interest scores related to Occupational Clusters. Each cluster is keyed to curriculum choice and major sources of detailed job information including the COPSystem Career Briefs Kit , COPSystem Cluster
Booklets Kit, O*NET, and the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH). Low cost, on­site scoring providing immediate feed­ back of results, and the use of one instrument for vocationally oriented and college oriented persons are major features.
The Career Guidance Unit may start with the determination of occupational interests as measured by the Career
Occupational Preference System Interest Inventory (COPS). Items in the COPS Interest Inventory provide a broad overview of the world of work. A one­hour ability battery, the Career Ability Placement Survey , (CAPS), is available and is keyed to the COPSystem Occupational Clusters. The Career Orientation Placement and Evaluation Survey , (COPES), a survey of work values is also available, as well as a Summary Guide.

The COPS Self­Scoring Form may be used by the examinees whenever the administrator or examiner wishes to have them score their own responses and plot their own interest profile. Used in this manner the COPS provides a valuable self­awareness tool in career guidance.
