CREATIVE DANCE
Millis Dance Theatre
Children will learn the basics of dance including age appropriate
ballet and jazz choreography set to spirited music. The class will
focus on creative express through open-ended movement such as
dancing with ribbons, scarves, hula-hoops, etc. This popular, lively class is offered to students who have danced before as well as
those with no prior experience. Attire: Comfortable clothing,
(leotard and ballet slippers optional).

Millis Dance Theatre
This fun class will include the basics of classical ballet including
graceful flow of movement and elegant posture then on to tumbling fundamentals! Students will be taught forward and backward rolls, beginning cartwheels, etc. This varied and enjoyable
class is taught in a positive, age-appropriate environment. No experience necessary. Attire: Comfortable clothing, (leotard and

Let’s take a walk through the fundamentals of America’s favorite

development are our priorities.

Youth Summer Programs
MILLIS SWIM TEAM
Millis Recreation Dept.
This is a great opportunity to try a new sport, improve your swim
stroke, make some friends and have some fun! While the summer
league is a competitive league, emphasis will be placed on promoting good sportsmanship and team spirit, while providing an environment for the individual swimmer to improve overall fitness and
build self-esteem. The Millis Swim Team is open to swimmers of
all abilities ages 7-18. Practices take place at Glen Ellen Country
Club beginning the end of June. Practices are generally 7:50 –
8:50 a.m., Monday thru Thursday. Meets are generally held on
Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The entire meet schedule is
available online at www.millisswimteam.com. Registration fee
includes shirt and swim cap.

MAGIC LESSONS
Joe Carota
Join professional magician, Joe Carota, for this exciting 4-day
workshop. Get hands-on instruction at the class as well as all the
props needed to do the magic at home! Joe has been performing
for over 20 years and has put together a workshop to put the magic
in the hands of the students. Come learn the tricks of the trade.
Joe supplies hands-on instruction and all the equipment, props, and
written instruction for each student to take home and keep. Joe
works with a variety of ages and this program is suitable for those
entering grades 2 and up.

NATIONWIDE GOLF TOUR CAMP
The Glen
Golfers who have had little if any instruction at all should join
the Nationwide Tour Camp. Children will learn to produce a
swinging motion with a golf club in a fun and enjoyable learning environment while sending the ball forward. Each day will
consist of instruction in all phases of the game along with fun
and entertaining games. A snack and drink will be provided to
students on a daily basis. Max of 12 students per week.

PRO GOLF TOUR CAMP
The Glen
The goal of camp is to focus on Levels 2 and 3 of The U.S.
Kids Golf Learning Curriculum. Students will be broken up
into groups by age and skill level. Each student will have ample amount of individual attention focused on them by the lead
instructors on staff. Learn the basics of grip, aim, and set up;
speed of play and course management. Focus on skill and technique as well as advancing on individual basis to the next level.
A snack and drink will be provided each day along with a gift
for all campers. Max of 12 students per week.

SUMMER GYMNASTICS
Shen’s Gymnastics Academy
Kids will enjoy the experience of gymnastics and physical exercise
at this camp. No gymnastics experience necessary! Join us for funfilled days of gymnastics and water activities, Activities include
climbing the rock wall, trampoline, zip-line, tumbling into our giant
foam pit, jump & slide in our bouncy house, contests, games, arts
& crafts, and of course, instructor-led gymnastics. Regardless of
the skill level of our campers, our staff focuses on providing the
fundamentals of gymnastics in a no-pressure, fun, camp situation.

SUMMER CHESS WORKSHOP

Chess is a game of skill based on scientific principles which can be
taught at a very young age. Students will explore and practice
basic chess theory. The course will consist of instruction, play and
group work on chess problems and games. Students will receive a
chess trophy upon completion of the program.

FLAG FOOTBALL GAME PLAY
F.A.S.T. Athletics
F.A.S.T. Athletics will teach everyone game strategies, catching
techniques and most importantly how to work together as a team.
The students will be able to participate in different situational
games such as Red Zone Defense, 4th and inches, and The QB
Challenge as they learn the importance of fair play. Each class
will end with a simulated game broken down into 4 quarters—the
coaches will have tons of plays ready to go for their teams!

AROUND THE WORLD
F.A.S.T. Athletics
This program is a unique competition with various sports/games
played from around the world. The first day will be a trial for each
event teaching the students how to play each game and the remainder of the program will be a skill competition where the students
will be testing their skills in; cricket, bocce, archery, handball and
dodgeball. If you are tired of playing the same old traditional
sports and want to learn some new and exciting games, this is the
program for you! Minimum of 12 enrollment.

today’s current and sometimes “edgy” music. This is a very fun,

SELF DEFENSE/JUKIDO JUJITSU
Sensei Jeremy Flori
Jukido is a style of the Japanese Martial Art of Jujitsu, the techniques of which were founded centuries ago. Jujitsu was used by
Japan’s elite warrior class, the Samurai, and perfected over hundreds of years in combat. The techniques a student will learn include throws, takedowns, arm/joint locks and pressure points,
applied as a realistic approach to self-defense. Safety and doing
one’s best are always emphasized in class. Students will develop a
sense of respect and self-confidence through the discipline of hard

Wicked Cool for Kids
Wicked Cool for Kids is excited to introduce Minecraft Mania—a
blend of virtual learning and companion hands-on activities that
explore science and engineering using Minecraft. Kids use an
interactive avatar to investigate a virtual educational environment. Minecraft Mania lessons have both virtual and real world
components covering geology, engineering, physics, and biology.
Serious Minecraft Maniacs will be excited to learn about the
properties of rocks and minerals and take home their own rock
collection. Kids use their skills to build skyscrapers & simple
machines as well as plant their own crops in enjoyable experiential challenges. So join us for a week of fascination in our mobile
virtual classroom!

ROCKET SCIENCE
Wicked Cool for Kids
Kids will trail blaze their way to the stars and learn about space,
rocketry and terraforming on alien planets. Build and launch a
solid fuel scale model of the UP Aerospace SpaceLoft Rocket, a
real rocket used by the world’s only private space launch company. In the morning, rocket scientists will investigate the science
of flight and examine how things move in the universe by tackling Newton’s laws of motion. In the afternoon, kids will continue the flight plan while launching water rockets and designing an
outer space station.

Wicked Cool for Kids
Do you know a kid who dreams of becoming a veterinarian?
Grab a lab coat, animal lovers, as we learn about our favorite
furry, flying and fishy friends! Make amazing animal models,
build big bones and investigate animal intestines from our favorite vertebrates: birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish.
Dissect an owl pellet to discover a predator’s diet. We’ll catch
some invertebrates as we study insect exoskeletons and get into
tiny worlds to look at animal cells and parasites. End of the week
with a featured live animal visit with tips for animal care and
keeping pets healthy.

A half-hour of fun for the parent/adult and baby. The parent/adult will be instructed on appropriate holds, safety skills and the

as bubble blowing, front float and arm paddling.

theory (intervals, notation, rhythm, harmony, form and analysis),
with short excursions into Acoustics, Psychoacoustics, Mathematics,
Linquistics, Music History (including the 20th and 21st Centuries!)
and Music Appreciation (focusing on orchestral music, chamber
music and opera). Some class exercises will involve group singing.

Have you always wanted to take better photos of family, pets, sports,
dance, or landscapes? In this class, we will discuss ways to do this
by learning about principles of composition, exposure, and depth of
field, use of auto and manual buttons on your camera and other
camera settings, lenses, light and flashes, RAW and JPEG formats,
posing, and digital developing. We’ll work on these topics with
weekly shooting assignments, and we’ll share our work in our own
group page on the Internet. Bring your camera and manual to each
class (DSLR, mirrorless, or point-and-shoot).

PRESERVING FAMILY PHOTO & DOCUMENT
COLLECTIONS
Audrey Anderson
Many of us have inherited a collection of family photos or
documents. How can we preserve these collections for ourselves and
for future generations? In this class, we will discuss a short history of
photography, identification and dating of old photos and documents,
handling, organizing, and archiving collections, digital restoration
methods, scanning and sharing, and making an album, or framing
them safely.

personalized 12” x 12” keepsake frame, under the guidance of Jen
from Little French Hen Custom Keepsakes. Whether you are a
seasoned scrapbooker or have never picked up a glue stick, this
workshop is for you. The theme for this class is “Vacation
Memories”. All you need is two copies of your favorite 5” x 7”
vacation photo. These also make terrific gifts! Must register by
