Stirring Drama Bi!kd
For Granada Theatre
The film , "A Child Is Born ," stirring drama that goes behind the
scenes in a hospital matern ity ward,
"will be shown at the Granada theatre from today to Friday.
Gera ldine Fitzgerald , who was first
presented to movie audiences in "Dark
Victory '' and "Wuthering Heights,"
heads the cast. The role of her husband is played by Jeffrey Lynn. Other players are' Gladys G eorge and
Gale Page.

play and novel upon which the film
is based.

The story oi the American troubadour , Stephen C. Foster , will be
among the pictures at the Sayville
theatre for this week and next.
"Swanee Ttivex,"- to he shown Thursday through Saturday, combines the
melodies of Stephen Foster with the
drama of his life. The, Hall Johnson
choir also appears. "Old Black Joe,'
"De Camptown Races," "Jeanie With
The Light- Brown Hair" and other
songs • are featured. Don Ameche ,
Andrea Leeds and Al Jolson play the
leading roles. Edgar Bergen , Charlie
McCarth y and Mortimer Snerd, another of Bergen 's family, will be
shown in "Charlie -McCarthy, Detective," on the same bill. Robert Cummingg, Constance Moore and John
Sutton furnish the romantic element.
Sunday through Tuesday, William
Powell and llyrna Loy once again
are east as Nick Charles, detective,
and his wife Nora, in "Another Thin
Man ," which introduces a "Thin Man "
Jr., the baby whose arrival was predicted in the end of the preceding

Next Wednesday, only, Pat O'Brien
and Olympe Bradna will appear in
"Night ' of Rights," w i t h Roland

Of Gentleman Thief
David Niven plays the title role
and Olivia deHavilland provides the
romantic interest in thefilm , "Raffles ,"
¦which will be the attraction at the
Patchogue theatre from Thursday to
Saturday. "Raffles" is a fast-moving
mystery melodrama about a . society
playboy who leads a secret life of
crime.
The supporting cast includes Dudr
ley Digges, Dame May Whitty, Lionr
ef Pa-pe, Douglas Walton , E. E. Clive,
Jeter " Godfrey and Keith Hitchcock.
Most of the action of "Raffles "unwinds on a beautiful country estate
in England, with a detective and the
gentlema n crook playing an exciting
game of wits. Unusual camera shots
of a cricket game on this estate are
also in the film.
