1. Instrument Logistics
Why does the instrument beep every 20 seconds?
The Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument is designed to be silent when in use. The beeps
every 20 seconds have been added to let the user know the treatment is in progress.
How long will the batteries last?
It will vary based on usage, however, in-house testing showed that batteries in the
Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument lasted several months with normal usage.
The new instrument feels lighter than the last. Why is that?
The new Galvanic Spa™ System II has replaceable batteries that are much lighter than
the old rechargeable one. This makes the instrument lighter. Because Galvanic Spa™
System II treatments can take up to five minutes, the instrument was designed to be
lighter to reduce muscle fatigue.
What is the warranty on the Galvanic Spa™ System II Instrument?
Nu Skin warrants to the original owner of the Galvanic Spa™ System II that it is free
from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the original
date of consumer purchase. This warranty does not cover damage to the product as a
result of misuse or accident. If the product becomes defective within the two-year
warranty period, please call your local Nu Skin office to arrange for a replacement.
How do I change the conductor attachments?
To release a conductor: With your free hand on the conductor being released, hold the
instrument with the chrome activation panel facing you and press the release button
firmly with your thumb until the conductor is released from the instrument.

To attach a conductor: Hold the instrument with the display side up and the conductor
with the positioning indicator (small mark) facing you. Press firmly to snap the conductor
into place. If the conductor fails to attach, check to make sure the conductor is positioned
correctly. Forcing the conductor could damage both the instrument and the conductor.
The instrument will not work unless the conductor is attached correctly.
What is a cathode?
In a galvanic cell a cathode is where the positive pole is connected to complete the
circuit.
What is an anode?
In a galvanic cell an anode is the electrode in a device that electrons flow out of to return
to the circuit.
Where is the cathode, where is the anode?
It depends on the operating mode as the current is positive in some settings and negative
in others. The current flows from the chrome pieces of the unit.
2. Safety Questions
Can I use Galvanic Spa™ System II if I am pregnant?
Check with your physician before using Galvanic Spa™ System II if you are pregnant,
have health problems, skin diseases, have a pacemaker, are epileptic, or suffer seizures,
wear metal braces on your teeth, or have any metal implant.
Can I use the Galvanic Spa™ System II if I have inlays in my teeth, amalgam, screws
or bolts on my teeth or if I have had dermal filling treatments?
Any metal in the mouth such as fillings or retainers can conduct the galvanic current
which may cause an uncomfortable sensation in the teeth or taste in the mouth. This is
not harmful, but may be uncomfortable.
Can the Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument (and its effects) be compared with
ionthophoresis devices (and their effects) as they are commonly known in the medical
field?
The Galvanic Spa system is a cosmetic instrument and delivers cosmetic benefits to
customers. “Spa” indicates a refreshing and renewing experience. It is not a medical
device instrument and, therefore, would not be compared to an ionthopheresis device.
Are there any side effects from using the Galvanic Spa™ System II daily?
Safety testing has been conducted on the Galvanic Spa instrument and its companion
products and it is safe when used as directed. There have been no adverse effects
reported. However, Nu Skin advises that all consumers with any medical conditions
consult with their physician before using Galvanic Spa or any other Nu Skin treatment
product.

How firmly should I press with the Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument?
You should apply enough pressure to maintain constant contact with the skin but still be
comfortable.
Do I need to remove the remaining Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment and Treatment
Facial Gels after the treatment?
Yes, remove or rinse any remaining gel with a towel or water and follow with the Nu
Skin toner of your choice.
Can I use part of a Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment or Treatment Facial Gel vial for
one treatment and then use the remainder later? Will exposure to air or moisture
change the chemical or physical structure of the gel?
The Pre-Treatment and Treatment facial gels are packaged in metered doses that have
been found to be optimal for use at one time. We recommend using one vial per
treatment.
Can I use part of one bottle of Nutriol® Hair Fitness Treatment today and then save
the remainder for a later treatment?
Each bottle is a single dosage application and should be used quickly after releasing the
powder phase into the solution. Dispose of any remaining product. We recommend using
one bottle of Nutriol® Hair Fitness Treatment every other day for the first eight weeks
and then two bottles per week for the next four weeks.
Why does my treatment sometimes last longer than the time I set?
The Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument is designed to pause temporarily when the
instrument is not in contact with the skin. Once it is in contact with the skin again, the
treatment will resume. Although you may set a two, three, or five minute treatment, the
treatment may take longer to complete because of these pauses during loss of contact.
This ensures you receive the benefits of the full treatment time.
Can I perform longer treatment times than recommended?
Yes, Nu Skin’s patent pending discovery, based on carefully controlled research, reveals
treatment durations of five minutes or more with the Galvanic Spa™ System II
instrument can enhance the delivery of key ingredients in treatment products for up to 24
hours. This includes active ingredients contained in Nu Skin’s advanced anti-aging
products applied after the treatment.
Can I use the Galvanic Spa™ System II with other skin care products like Enhancer?
If not, why?
All the Nu Skin personal care products have great benefits, but are not specifically
designed for use with the Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument. Galvanic Spa™ System
II products are specially formulated to have charges that work synergistically with the
galvanic current. It is not harmful to use Enhancer or other gels with the Galvanic Spa™
instrument, but it does not help to deliver the ingredients into the skin. We recommend

using Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment and Treatment Facial Gels, Galvanic Spa™ II Body
Shaping Gel, and Nutriol® Hair Fitness Treatment with the Galvanic Spa™ System II.
Can sun exposure cause a negative effect when using the Galvanic Spa™ System II
daily?
We have not tested the product for daily use, so we do not have any indication. The
ingredients within the Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment and Treatment Facial Gels and
other Galvanic Spa™ System II products have not been shown to increase sensitivity to
sun exposure.
I like to go to the solarium, are there any problems when using the Galvanic Spa™
System II?
Using the Galvanic Spa™ System II should not be a problem as long as you follow the
regular usage instructions.
Can I use the Galvanic Spa™ System II on the eyelid?
The Galvanic Spa™ System II is not recommended for use in the eye area.
4. Technical
What is the current level of the Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument?
The current levels are 0.125, 0.250, and 0.350 mA (milliamperes). This is a low,
efficacious current.
How does the Galvanic Spa™ System II pull dirt and debris from the skin?
Galvanic Spa™ is a cosmetic instrument and everything that happens with Galvanic
Spa™ happens in the epidermis of the skin. During a Galvanic Spa™ II treatment the
polarity of the direct current (positive or negative flow of electrons) pushes or repels
charged molecules out of or into the epidermis as the instrument is gently moved across
the skin. Dead skin cells and sebum have a negative charge, so application of positive
current expels “dirt and oil” from the skin. This treatment allows a thorough, deep pore
cleansing.
Does the Galvanic Spa™ System II comply with the German VDE standards
(standards for electrical devices and components)?
The instrument complies with the European electric devices standards for safety. By
this it fulfils all national European requirements on electric safety. The product has
as proof of compliance the CE-safety mark affixed.
How are active ingredients also delivered to the skin?
The cosmetic benefit the consumer will see is radiant skin that looks and feels great.
Galvanic Spa™ System II is a skin rejuvenation tool and it works by invigorating the
epidermis and dermis with customized galvanic current (which does not exceed 375
microamps) through a gentle massaging action. The Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment and
Treatment Facial Gel features marigold extract, sea kelp, and vanilla to soothe and

condition the skin during the Pre-Treatment cycle and arginine, rose, sandalwood, and
jasmine to rejuvenate and restore stressed skin during the treatment cycle. The Galvanic
Spa™ System II Body Shaping Gel features theobromine and golden chamomile to help
promote a firmer, more toned appearance. The Nutriol® Hair Fitness has Tricalgoxyl®, a
proprietary seaweed derivative that helps remineralize the scalp and hydrate hair.
5. Miscellaneous
How does the Galvanic Spa™ System II differ from the old Galvanic Spa™ System?
The new Galvanic Spa™ System II offers more flexibility than the old Galvanic Spa™
System. Galvanic Spa™ System II allows you to choose not only the polarity (charge) of
a treatment, but also the length of treatment time and type of attachment. This allows you
to easily customize your home spa experience.
Can I use my old Galvanic Spa™ instrument with the new Galvanic Spa™ II Body
Shaping Gel and Nutriol® Hair Fitness Treatment?
You may continue to use the original Galvanic Spa™ instrument with Galvanic Spa™
Pre-Treatment and Treatment Facial Gels. However, for best results, we recommend that
you use the new Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument with the appropriate conductor and
customized polarity and time settings when using Galvanic Spa™ II Body Shaping Gel
or Nutriol® Hair Fitness treatment.
How does the Galvanic Spa II System instrument work?
Galvanic Spa™ System II treatments use the basic principles that like charges repel each
other and opposites attract, similar to magnetic poles. Products are formulated to contain
key ingredients which carry a positive or negative charge. The instrument is also set to
have the same charge as the product. The repelling of like charges “push” the product
into the skin facilitating the delivery of key ingredients.
Some Nutriol® Hair Fitness Treatment contacted my skin, not my hair or scalp and
some irritation has appeared? What are the causes? Do I have to stop using the
system?
An ingredient (Ethyl nicotinate) that helps boost the product’s efficacy causes a slight
reddening of the scalp immediately after application. This redness quickly disappears—
usually within 20 minutes. You may continue usage unless the irritation becomes
unwelcome.
Will the Galvanic Spa™ System II instrument and products help increase firmness in
the skin?
Galvanic Spa™ System II is a skin rejuvenation tool. It works by invigorating the
epidermis and dermis with customized galvanic current (which does not exceed 375
microamps) and “gentle massaging action”. In the Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment and
Treatment Facial Gels, marigold extract, sea kelp, and vanilla soothe and condition the
skin during cleansing cycle and arginine, rose, sandalwood, and jasmine rejuvenate and
restore stressed skin during the treatment cycle. We recommend following your Galvanic

Spa™ treatment with Tru Face™ Essence. This scientifically advanced serum is
designed to promote increased elastin production for a firmer more contoured
appearance.
Does the Galvanic Spa™ System II help with breakouts?
The Galvanic Spa™ Pre-Treatment and Treatment Facial Gels should not cause any
additional problems for individuals with breakouts. To treat breakout and prevent future
blemishes, we recommend the Nu Skin Clear Action System.
In case of IPL-hair removal or definitive hair removal, will using the Galvanic Spa™
System II on legs or face stimulate hair regrowth?
No. Intense Pulsed Light or laser hair removal is designed to destroy the entire follicle
including the bulb and germinating center.
Can I perform Galvanic treatments if I suffer from skin diseases such as Rosacea?
Individuals with skin conditions, as with all individuals with any medical condition,
should consult their physician or dermatologist before using the Galvanic Spa™ System
II.
Can I perform Galvanic treatments on my stomach?
Yes, the Galvanic Spa™ System II and Galvanic Spa™ II Body Shaping Gel can be used
on the stomach or abdominal areas.
