A Thought for the New Year - Mother Teresa's “Anyway” Poem
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; ……….Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;……..Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;……Succeed
anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;…………Be honest and frank anyway.
Morning Hymn Numbers – 709, 266, 716, 318, 574
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; ……….Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;………………..Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;…………… Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;……Give the world the best
you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between
you and them anyway.
Collect for Today
O God, who by the leading of a star manifested your only Son to the peoples
of the earth: mercifully grant that we, who know you now by faith, may at
last behold your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever. Amen

CONTEXT: Matthew`s (unique) nativity story of gifts to Jesus
IDEAS: The greatest king has come; journeying to him; wisdom honours him; our gifts to
him.
Only Matthew tells us how representatives of other strange religions came from the East
to offer their homage to the one and only true God, the child who is king for ever over all
earthly powers.
