Route Manager - Express Job Description
Job Title:
Route Manager – Express
Reporting to:
Operations Delivery Manager
Job Location:
Work based between our Cowley Depot and Gloucester Green coach
station, but travel as required by the needs of the business
Purpose of Job:
Responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our express coach
network; the airline, the Oxford to London X90s and the National
Express 737 contract. To ensure smooth, legal and efficient operation
of our coach services whilst always being mindful of cost control.
Main responsibilities:














Ensure the express coach network runs in accordance with the Traffic Commissioners
guidelines and meets company targets in terms of punctuality and reliability
Minimise controllable lost mileage on our Express services
Manage a team of professional drivers, kerbsiders and Express Controllers to ensure
they deliver the highest quality service
Undertake coaching meetings with drivers, hold return to work and disciplinary meetings
Prepare and issue all express staff notices including roadworks and events
Operate in line with the Company vision and values and encourage others to do the
same
Address poor performance and poor attitudes in an appropriate timely manner
Where appropriate, deputise for the Head of Operations at both external and internal
meetings related to the Express service
Implementing and maintaining Go-Ahead policies and procedures with ability to explain
any breaches and ensuring lessons are learnt from any breach.
Ensure correct processes and practises are in place to achieve optimum performance,
productivity, efficiency and profitability of the business
Ensure legal compliance across all areas of the business including driver hours
compliance, DVSA reporting of incidents
Mentoring and coaching of team to maintain, adjust to improve performance where
required
At all times, achieving all of the above whilst being mindful of cost
