TRUE CRIME: WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
In association with Documentary Campus
What's so compelling about the true crime series? Some shows notch up between four
to five million viewers each month and, with the popularity of Netflix's series "Making a
Murderer," it's a genre that is becoming hotter than ever. Look behind the scenes from
the perspectives of award-winning directors and producers who have chased crime
around the world. Discover how and why these series tap into the near insatiable
appetite of the armchair detective, and what's up next in the business of true crime.

FAST TRACK DOCS: OPPORTUNISM OR VALID REPORTAGE?
Fast track documentaries covering sensitive topics such as natural disasters, terrorist
attacks, and refugees escaping war torn regions have become all the rage. But
with 24/7 news channels churning out abundant coverage and analyses, are these
documentaries, often capitalizing on the tragedies of our times, real reportage or
opportunism at its finest? Are they being produced too quickly — when people are
still mourning or when investigations are still in progress — to offer real perspective?
Speaker:
► Sharon Scott, President and General Manager, NBCU Peacock Productions, USA
