News
6th grade team
ELA-In ELA we are continuing to read
The Cay, by Theodore Taylor. The first
week of June, students will be able to
choose a country to research for
the Country Research Project. In the
library, we will be creating brochures on
our countries using the computer. Don't
forget, the ELA Final Exam is on
Monday, June 14.
Reading-During the month of June,
Reading classes will be finishing their
Poetry Unit and completing our last
Trophies story called, "I Want to be an
Astronaut." Please continue to
encourage your child to read at home
each night!
SCIENCE-In the month of June we will
conclude our study of Space Science and
begin reviewing for the final exam.
MATH- Math Final Cumulative exam is
June 15th. Please study your notes and
old exams.

S.S.- We are finishing our study with the
Renaissance and the Islamic religion.
The remainder of the year will
be reviewing for the multiple choiceshort answer final, which will take place
on June 17.
7th grade team
Science- We will study genetics and
end the year with final exam review.
The final exam is June 16th and 17th.
S.S.- We will be reviewing for the
multiple choice portion of the final on
June 14th and 15th.
English – We will be preparing for the
final exam. The comprehensive final
exam is on June 3 and 4th.
Math -Students are preparing for the
final exam, which is 20% of their grade.
The cumulative final exam is June 3rd
and 4th for Part II and June 14th and
15th for Part I.
Health - We are reporting on our
experiences with the Blue Ribbon
Project. We will be learning about skin
cancer prevention and general First Aid
tips for the upcoming summer months.
We will be reviewing and applying our
knowledge of decision making and
abstinence as it applies to our personal
health.
Resource 7th- will be focusing on
literary term review and reading
comprehension. We will be reinforcing
math skills as well.
June 2010
8th grade team
Science-The New York State Science
Exam will be given June 7th. This test
covers 6th, 7th, and 8th grade material.
Please be sure your child gets a good
night sleep and a good breakfast that
day. We’ll end the year with
electricity and some fun labs that we
have not had time to run this year.

S.S. The New York State exam in
Social Studies will be June 14 and 15.
We are finishing up preparations in
class. Students can get additional
review on Castlelearning.com and by
using the purple review sheet that has
been handed out with terms covered

FACS-Students will be planning,
cooking and serving their final meals
in FACS. On the menu is homemade
ziti, meatballs, Italian chicken strips,
salad, garlic knots, a variety of
desserts and smoothies. They will also
be preparing for the Meal Planning
unit test.
Special Area Department Highlights….
TO ALL STUDENTS OF A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH: Daily Practice for the NYS Proficiency is the best way to prepare
for the test. Vocabulary, Vocabulary, Vocabulary!!! The test will be June 21st for all 8th graders.
Remember to follow your own path through life
As long as you don’t step on the toes of others.
