WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRELUDE – KINDLING OF THE CANDLES “Simple Gifts”
Bells
As we light the candles, let us take a moment to focus our hearts and minds for worship.
* CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 150, King James Version)
One: Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of
his power.
All: Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
One: Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
All: Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments
and organs.
One: Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
All: Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
* OPENING HYMN
“Crown Him With Many Crowns”
trumpeters: Sarah Prunty, Parker Henry
Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne,
Hark, how the heavn’ly anthem drowns all music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee,
And hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.
Crown him the Virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born,
Whose arm those crimson trophies won which now his brow adorn;
Fruit of the mystic rose, as of that rose the stem;
The root whence mercy ever flows, the Babe of Bethlehem.
(Choir only) Crown him the Lord of Love, behold his hands and side,
Rich wounds yet visible above in beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight,
but downward bends his wond’ring eye at mysteries so bright.
INTERLUDE
* Indicates: please stand as you are able.
Crown him the Lord of Life, who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save.
His glories now we sing, who died and rose on high,
Who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.
Crown him the Lord of Heaven, enthroned in world’s above,
Crown him the King to whom is given the wondrous name of Love.
Crown him with many crowns as thrones before him fall;
Crown him, ye kings, with many crowns, for he is King of all.
* PRAYER OF INVOCATION (unison)
Eternal God, revealed to us in ways we can begin to understand through Jesus Christ,
show us now what you expect of us as we seek the unity for which Jesus prayed. May
we find joy in your word as we share it with others. May we discover your truth that
unites us with all your children everywhere in acts of self-giving love that bring us
closer to your realm. Amen.
* SHARING GOD’S PEACE
Please share God’s peace by greeting one another with a smile,
a handshake, a hug, a wave … whatever is most comfortable for you.
(Children and youth are now dismissed for Sunday School.)
CONGREGATION CALL TO PRAYER
“In His Time”
In His time, in His time, He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me ev’ry day, as You’re teaching me Your way,
That You do just what You say, in Your time.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
We begin by sharing our joys and concerns. Each sharing is lifted up with:
One: We lift them up in prayer.
All: Lord, hold them in your love.
LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our
debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
CONGREGATION PRAYER RESPONSE “In His Time”
In Your time, in Your time, You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring, may each song I have to sing
be to You a lovely thing, in Your time.

* DOXOLOGY
“Give Thanks”
Give thanks with a grateful heart; Give thanks to the Holy One;
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His son. Give thanks with a grateful heart;
Give thanks to the Holy One; Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His son.
And now let the weak say, “I am strong,” Let the poor say, “I am rich,”
because of what the Lord has done for us.
And now let the weak say, “I am strong,” Let the poor say, “I am rich,”
because of what the Lord has done for us. Give thanks!
* PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Here, O God, is some of the abundance you have allowed us to manage for you while we
are on this earth. May it be enough to draw us closer to you and to all whom we seek to
help. May our hearts follow our treasure into growing devotion to your truth and
expanded commitment to the unity in love that Jesus sought for all your children. Bless
this offering, and increase our joy in giving. Amen.
